My colleague Ilhan Omar was attacked at her town hall yesterday, following repeated targeting by the President and Vice President. I stand in strong support of Representative Omar and call on the President, Vice President, and my Republican colleagues to condemn this dangerous political violence.

Californians contribute more in federal taxes than we receive back in federal spending. But now the Trump Administration is considering cutting off even more funding because he disagrees with the politics of our state. Not only are these actions illegal, but they are also deeply un-American.

Today should mark 53 years since American women gained the right to make their own health care decisions with the ruling of Roe v. Wade. Instead, the past few years have seen a near-complete rollback of these freedoms by the Supreme Court and Republicans in Congress (1/2).

I have heard from thousands of constituents about their concern over ICE agents’ violence and lawlessness, which I share. Today, I voted NO on a bill to give even more money to ICE. We must rein in this rogue institution and that begins with cutting off funding until ICE is held accountable.

I will not vote to give ICE a single penny under its corrupt leadership. ICE is making our communities less safe and when the Homeland Security appropriations bill, which contains ICE funding, comes to the Floor in the coming days, I will be a strong NO vote.
