I recognized the extraordinary service of retiring San Ramon Police Chief Denton Carlson on the House Floor today. After more than two decades of serving the San Ramon community, Chief Carlson’s retirement is well deserved, but he will be missed.

Today I honored my friend and mentor Gwen Regalia on the House Floor and recognized her decades of service to our community. Gwen’s legacy lives on through her many contributions to Walnut Creek and Contra Costa.

I was honored to join the Orinda Masonic Lodge at their Cornerstone Rededication ceremony last week, the same ceremony that was performed by freemasons in both the U.S. and California Capitol Buildings.

In the East Bay we have great public schools and notoriously long commutes. Join our upcoming town hall at Live Oak Elementary School in San Ramon on Saturday, December 6th to hear about how I’m working to improve transportation and continue supporting students and their families in our community.

It was wonderful to tour the Loaves and Fishes kitchen in Martinez and meet with volunteers and staff to discuss efforts to combat food insecurity in Contra Costa, particularly as we approach Thanksgiving. In the wealthiest country in the world, no one should go hungry.

Last week’s news that Purdue Pharma and the Sackler family will be forced to pay up to $7 billion to the victims of the opioid crisis and to local agencies for recovery programs is an important step toward justice for victims of the opioid crisis this company helped fuel (1/2).

The President of the United States is once again inciting political violence, this time calling for the execution of Democratic lawmakers. We cannot normalize this behavior and must stand united against ALL political violence.
