Something else. The NDP leader wanted the Liberals to enact a federal dental plan, which they did (called the Canada Dental Plan). This means that anyone without dental insurance now has coverage, which is wonderful. The NDP also wanted a Pharmacare plan, which has not happened...yet.

Mostly, yes. They're all about government programs which help people. So the previous leader had an agreement with Trudeau, which he honored until he didn't. Then anger really built towards Trudeau (not from me - I thought he did a terrific job). He resigned, & an election was called not long after.

A new election would be called (our election periods are *six weeks* only). Hopefully, the Liberals would win more seats. The third party - the NDP (National Democratic Party - socialists) was wiped out in this recent election, so it would likely be a fight between Liberals and Conservatives.

We (Canada) really dodged a bullet when Mark Carney won; his opponent (I can't bear to say his name) is a Trumper all the way, with the backing of the former Conservative Prime Minister, Stephen Harper. He won the election ~ I think ~ two seats short of a majority /2
