Secured* a hotel reservation for @sxsw.com next spring. Can’t wait!

*I hope. I haven’t received an email confirmation yet—only a receipt for SXSW’s transaction fee. Not a great experience this year. I hope this bullshit of conferences charging to use their housing portal doesn’t become commonplace.

Any @sxsw.com peeps out here? I've yet to hear anything about SXSW housing for 2026, and that usually all opens by August 1. Messages sent to [email protected] get a "wasn't this SXSW 2025 great?" auto-response. This is...happening...right?

When BSH forced a whole new, third-party authentication mechanism on top of their already terrible apps, I stopped using any of the connected features of my Thermador appliances. So now, to punish me, they stand idle and usable until I reset the time…every time we lose power.

Yeah, I don’t understand what this is all about. I thought Bluetooth provisioning was part of the vision all along. And I tend to believe that more dependency on the cloud isn’t a good thing.
