Under the #ECB’s current legal framework, one conclusion is unavoidable: the central bank of the world’s second-most used currency cannot help Ukraine — not because it won’t, but because it legally can’t.

LEAVITT: The latter. Secretary Hegseth authorized Admiral Bradley to conduct these kinetic strikes. He worked well within his authority and the law.

Well it of course requires QMV to end the paralysis and delays. Have made this point often in the past.

But I do feel it goes wider. Has to do with psychology across the boards. A sense of fatalism spreading. Which can and must be halted.

True. But how to change this mindset? 'Invest in a stronger EU' and 'give some things up' do not sound like a political programme or strategy to me.
Wherever you look, from ‘track change diplomacy’ on Ukraine to China’s power play on critical minerals, Europe is losing grip and self confidence.

But it doesn’t have to be this way. ↘️
Europe’s psychology of weakness
It’s time the EU ditched its failing strategy of “react, hope, repeat.”

This is all true but

1) under no definition are we currently at war with Venezuela under domestic US law

2) since we aren’t, the initial strike was just as much a murder as the follow up

The failure to understand this by a huge range of actors is really driving me up the wall.
If the Venezuelan sailors were enemy combatants, then the 2nd strike is a war crime.

If the Venezuelan sailors weren’t enemy combatants, then both strikes are criminal murder.

It’s that simple.
