Related to your other post, and definitely me extending the old guy moan alert, but my favourite headphones are over 20 years old and still sound and work great. Well, they do in the devices that have a fucking headphone jack!

I've spent a lot of my work time on this topic over the last year. I still can't shake the feeling that the Gell-Mann amnesia effect is in full force, and if it can't be trusted for information that I'm not already an expert in, why use it?

I'll leave with this from Sabicas. He was a controversial figure in flamenco at the time due to him both openly embracing more Moorish influences than a lot of purists liked, and being one of the first greats to teach non Romani guitarists.

I generally prefer the pre Paco de Lucia period of flamenco. He changed everything. He's the prog to Montoya's punk.

Saying that, his work with Cameron de la Isla is pretty incredible and definitely worth investigating.

Carlos & Ramon Montoya are an excellent starting point for early flamenco. They were really the first to highlight the guitar as something other than background to the singers and dancers. I'm a big fan of Sabicas as well. Less of a purist, which fits closer to how I interpreted it.

Flamenco, The Art of Flamenco; Its History and Development by Bárbara Thiel-Cramér is a good one. The Art of Flamenco by Donn Pohren as well.

I'd recommend joining www.foroflamenco.com, it was an invaluable resource for me when I first got interested, and is still very active.

Spotify is a horrible platform in so many ways. People should consider if they're ok using it. We use Tidal in the shop for streaming and are really happy with it. Some of the staff use Qobuz at home. Spotify sounds terrible and their ethics are disgusting.

Now that I think about it, I was also barred from the same venue years earlier when I was playing there and got in a fight with some arsehole in the crowd that was harassing our friends. So maybe it was just that venue.
