A Thanksgiving Story

A few decades ago, when I was first dating my wife, we drove from Massachusetts to Vermont to celebrate Thanksgiving with her father and mother, Donald and Mary.

Mary had stage 4 pancreatic cancer and was under treatment, so we brought all the food.

why do i feel called out here?
I mean Twitter does machine animism with artisanal vibes; Bluesky does neo-Butlerian suspicion with a dash of techno-gnostic puritanism.

There’s just no space anywhere for anyone not flying a flag. It’s not even beliefs. It’s signal of beliefs. Everything is metabolized as affiliation.

"He cooked it, he can carve it." has become a code phrase between my wife and I since this Thanksgiving.
A Thanksgiving Story (cont.)

Donald flatly refused, "He cooked it, he can carve it." But Mary persisted and he gave way and started carving. The breast was perfect but when he cut into the dark meat, a slight pink color sent him loudly exclaiming "Mary, get the pan, it's raw!"

"Double down" is this administration's signature move. They will be calling it a "surge" soon.

National Guard soldiers didn't sign up to be deployed as local police indefinitely as part of someone else's political stunt.

They're not set up to be local police, they never should have been deployed.

How long until RFKjr bans nanogels because they are “activated by the 5g signals”?
GOOD NEWS! Researchers have developed a heteromultivalent nanogel capable of killing some of the most dangerous bacteria known to medicine- with over 99.9% effectiveness against P. aeruginosa. It also showed strong antibacterial effects against other major threats, including E. coli and MRSA.

They must be filming the next season of 'Chief of War'.
Oh, FYI.

Kilauea's doing its thing right now if you've burnt yourself out of the 14 random college basketball tourneys happening right now.

It's always Bison coffee. Every time without fail.

Kind of serves the Dems for passing such a shitty bill but we will all end up losing if this is overturned.

Now that the public discourse has been changed from "inflation" to "affordability" it can be used to take away even more consumer protections.
Exclusive: Republicans plan to challenge vehicle-safety mandates, such as automatic emergency braking and alarms that remind drivers a child is in the back seat.

<back to your regularly scheduled content of our march into an oligarchy>
Cannot overstate how, from my perch as a national-security reporter, this would have been an earth-shattering scandal in a prior era.
Billionaire Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, pardoned by Donald Trump, has been accused of facilitating millions of dollars’ worth of payments to Hamas in the wake of its attack on Israel on October 7 2023. Zhao also financed the Trump family's entrance into the cryptocurrency market.
