Decades of mechanistic talk about university degrees as if they were bundles of 'skills' and 'prep' are about to be proved completely wrong (obviously). Want to get a real boost? Do History or English.
We're a complicated people, and we embrace that.
What defines Canada?
We rule comedy because we are not predatory. We live on harsh terrain and were forced to compromise.
But we love hockey goons.
So watch out Mr. Taco, we aren't afraid to go from "sorry" to "you'll be sorry".
My latest on elbows up.

This is all very interesting! Thank you. Did you start collecting because you liked the dolls, or was it the stories? Also, are your favorites based on the doll itself, or her stories, or is it the time period?
I know that Canadian Maplelea dolls represent specific regions and cultures in Canada, but there are not "historical characters" in the Maplelea line like there are in the American Girl line. I'm interested in the particular historical project of the American Girl historical characters.
Seeking input for a course I'm teaching this fall.

Have you purchased or owned an American Girl doll in the *historical characters* line? If you have, what doll and or books did you have? Did you like your doll and the books?
We seem to be living in a moment where wealthy and powerful individuals and their sycophants, especially those in the American regime, feel that their wealth or position gives them the right to fabricate lies and spread those lies with impunity. Do NOT normalize this behaviour. 5/5
To say otherwise is not "revising history"; it is fabricating a lie. 4/5
That is fabricating lies. It is morally reprehensible that the American regime would fabricate and spread lies about the invasion of Ukraine. Let me be perfectly clear, and there is a great deal of evidence to support this: Russia invaded Ukraine. 3/5
This is how we have enriched historical narratives by including voices of those who have long been silenced--women, Indigenous peoples, people of colour etc. Fabricating lies about the past and spreading them around because it suits one's selfish purposes is not revisionist history. 2/5
There is a difference between revising history and fabricating LIES about the past. All history -- by this I mean the work done by historians based on evidence -- is revisionist in some ways. Sometimes new sources come to light or we view traditional sources in new ways. 1/5
Canadians, please read and consider signing this pledge which calls on our leaders to work across partisan divides in the face of the threats our country is facing by the US. We can have political differences and still love the same country.

A thoughtful take on Cdn nationalism/ patriotism. Most Canadians are not trying to get back to some golden age of Cdn greatness. We can be honest about our problematic history and the challenges we face today and still love this sovereign country.

Confessions of a Reluctant Nationalist
I'd throw a punch to fight for Canada's sovereignty while reserving and exercising my right to criticize this country. That's a fine form of patriotism.

It's messy, but that's the human condition.
Thanks for this. Being patriotic and being honest about our history are not mutually exclusive. In my opinion, honesty about our settler-colonial past and the willingness to engage in the hard work of reconciliation can lead to a patriotism that does not require denying our past.

If America thinks tariffs will crush the resolve of Canadians – they’re wrong.

We will not roll over.

BC is stepping up to do our part by:
❌ Pulling US liquor off shelves
❌ Excluding US products from government purchases
Each Dec 31, I try to get out for a bike ride to end the year well (barring a storm). It was a cool 4 degrees Celsius, but the sun was shining and the snow shone in the mountains. Wishing you all good health and good memories in 2025, and strength for the challenges of real life. #cyclinghistorians
