A good thing is a good thing but I wish they would happen in much worse, more public, more pain-filled ways. Feels like a lost opportunity for any justice thicker than the grave's.
You can talk to me about baseball if you have something delicious to share! If you bring nothing for the knowledge merchant, no trade will happen today!
Realizing, after some years of trying to figure out why they just hold no grip on my life at all despite being a focal point for at least two decades, that I really just like to *learn* about sports, not actually watch them or talk about them.

When we look at this massacre and many more perpetrated by the RSF, let's be clear who funds, equips & sustains them. It's the UAE. Yes, the same UAE that might own your football club, fly you on your holidays, invests in our national infrastructure. If boycotts work, we should be boycotting now.
“Individuals on the ground sent a message that reached us Monday morning that 1,200 were dead,” Nathaniel Raymond, the lab’s executive director, said. “By that evening, they said 10,000. By Tuesday, we couldn’t reach them anymore. We assume our ground contacts are dead.”
Yale lab reports mass killings in Sudan, calls for student activism
The Humanitarian Research Lab was told this week that over 10,000 people in Sudan were killed within three days.

I don't think most people understand that Trump could leave office tomorrow & US higher ed is still dead. It's completely broken beyond repair, & most Americans seem to give less than two shits - & *that* is a fundamental issue that won't go away without seismic shifts in US civic life.
For the record, handing it off to someone like Ken Russell probably would've gotten the job done too, although I think Lynch's read on American psychology was instrumental in making his stuff genuinely next-level cinema - & the original has obvious whispers of that theme to it.
Throwing it out there, but David Lynch's Carnival of Souls would fit his ouvre like a glove & would've updated the film's more staid lack of explicit violence & sex in a way that would've scratched a furious itch. Like, totally gratuitous for him to do a remake, but it would've fixed my complaints!
Say what you will, but Billy Joel went pretty hard on the instrumental end of "Pressure," & I feel we can all largely ignore the lyrics bc of that.
& THEY SET ONE UP IN A GRAVEYARD!!! Like, you'll never visit ole pop-pop again w/o Gastly blasting your ass with a Shadow Ball! (I already get that! My dad's buried in the middle of the Ozarks - it sucks!)

I know we've said this before, but *bonkers* politics in this one. Delicious but dizzying.
That's my thought & hope - otherwise, this Lumiose run by ex-Flare members, large corporations with a bad civil rights track record, & Richissime elites makes for a very cheery dystopia (that feels way too close to home in many ways for comfort).
I thought Jacinthe or Jett were going to seriously contribute to the plot! Wrong again! 😅 The coffee weirdos might think infinite indiscriminate extermination's a step too far? Not super "no" there too. Loan shark promises to stop predatory loans? Nope! PokeProtestors affect the plot? Once, barely!
I kept waiting for a rug pull given how disreputable half the NPCs are. At one point Emma sends you a message that says something like "you can totally trust L," & I remember thinking, *are you really sure about that, Game Freak?* & the answer is, yes! "Freak" is in the name! Egg on my face!
Also, hey, what about my fuckin' wish, man?!
Didn't play X or Y, so tbh the entire last third of Z-A was mostly lost on me. I don't know who these people are, I don't really care that much, & - honestly - I don't know why I'm supposed to be friendly with a bunch of fictional genocidaires.

Hey folks, my wife was laid off unexpectedly. We depend on her income with my own.

We are crunching numbers, but it's grim.

Not sure how we'll make it through November, let alone think about December.

You can help here, but we understand everyone is struggling too. <3

Committing suicide by going into the world of Possession & volunteering to be Mark & Anna's third wheel/trans "experiment" before I get beaten to death with milk & fed to the fuckable goop pile.
I wake up everyday thinking, "I wish I wasn't here," & there's no distinction between what I could be talking about. Full Bartleby hours.
I know there are a million worse things going on but working at a public university in a "diversity" role while higher ed becomes increasingly corporatized & the fascists have gone fully mask-off... It's feelin' pretty bad!
