Ya-ho minna! Welcome to my Rubbish Heap where I review Japanese retro and some modern video games, and tell you whether you can play them with no Japanese ability or not :) www.youtube.com/@SakiEndosRu...
Well that's another anniversary I missed, but woo, Super Mario Bros is 40 years old...a couple of years ago one cold Christmas/New Year in my apartment in Iwate, I sat down with my pencil and some color pencils and recreated the Japanese box art. #retrogaming #supermariobros #artwork #nintendo
Happy 30th to the PlayStation in North America. Sure we got it nearly a year earlier in Japan back then, but to this day, it's one of the most rad systems ever conceived. So here's some new artwork and merch to celebrate that!

Watched this yesterday. Great review and some detail on how you can play this classic JRPG for the PlayStation even if you don’t know any Japanese.

As always, Saki has the information you need to explore classic games from Japan that’s normally hard to get in to over here in the U.K.
My latest review of Popolocrois Monogatari has had 88 people watch it, rad! Haha I love the fact that the rubbish heap is so niche but it would be even more rad if more people knew about the heap and what we're doing. Spread the word, share a link, write a kind word or tune in - it's all good :)
Thanks for the words Tim :) Always appreciated! We know that many people won't have the time to learn Japanese, but we hope we can explain games that are otherwise accessible if only there was someone who could get you started - that's where we come in :) And for Japanese learners, we grade stuff!

This week's review on the heap is this wonderful, heartwarming, 2D JRPG from Sony Computer Entertainment that never left Japan. Kind of. So how does this first instalment fair, is it worth a pop? And is it accessible to non Japanese speakers? youtu.be/i8Qxf123-eM #playstation #retrogaming

This week on the heap, a review of an early JRPG for the PlayStation that time has slowly forgotten, especially as apart from a cut down release on the PSP it was never released outside of Japan. Saki as always will give you the full low down on Friday! And spoiler alert, it's great! #retrogaming

Saki Endo's Rubbish Heap the retro game review channel with attitude. It's been 1 year since the channel started and nearly 30 reviews revealing interesting Japanese games to those who can't understand a word to those on their way to fluency. All done with AI - Awesome Individuals :) #retrogaming
IK+ on GBA, woo, I have it on GBC but didn't know it made it there too, will have to check it out. Cannon Fodder on GBC is another PAL region release highlight.
...and sure some of those game mechanics were questionable but they were part of the tapestry of how things involved and many of the minds behind those games ended up producing some of the most beloved classics across the world. I think the key word is context. It explains everything.
Thanks for writing this, it's something I've become increasingly frustrated at as I've seen a North American POV sometimes dominate and brush off what was happening largely in Europe at the time. Sure I mostly play NTSC-J releases these days, but I still have a sizeable PAL collection from C64...
I forget I have this social media page! So many reviews have gone up in the meantime and here is my latest, an anime inspired dancing rhythm game from Tecmo, Unison from the earliest days of the PlayStation 2, 2000! Does it have the moves to bust a groove? youtu.be/koZp5YPesK4 #retrogaming #ps2

Glad you enjoyed it, the link to the full video explains it in even more detail including translations from interviews originally in Japanese with Hudson president Hiroshi Kudo and the project manager at NEC Home Electronics, Tomio Goto.
I found myself finding it a little bit difficult talking about balls, this week I review Kyuutenkai, a Fantasic (sic) Pinball game for the PlayStation and Saturn in beautiful 2D pixel art presentation. youtu.be/3aVkzqLAUa0 #retrogaming #playstation #saturn #pinball

Every 2 weeks a new review goes up and this time I reviewed the world's first CD-ROM RPG, Tengai Makyou Ziria - a comical set ancient "Jipang". I take a look whether this one still has the chops or falls Far East of Eden. #pcengine #retrogaming #rpg www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gobz...

In my latest review, I check out Tryrush Deppy for the Sega Saturn, is this one Derpy platformer or one to Try-Rushing out for? This colorful platformer is one of the Saturn's Japan exclusive unicorns but is it any good? Find out: youtu.be/hJmH0Fioogo #segasaturn #retrogaming #learnjapanese
