What will not exist in the next 50 years?
Plastic packaging.
Hopefully 🤞 plastic packaging will be replaced in the next 50 years with something better. Possibilities: plant-based polymers, formed fibers, in-home print on demand

What won't exist in the next 50 years?
A lot of office jobs. Automation and AI will replace many administrative and repetitive tasks in offices, like data entry, basic customer service and technical support, and even some aspects of accounting.

Search design: ‘Are you looking for food items or appliances?’ This helps narrow the results without guessing at intent. Even better, an LLM-powered ‘concierge’ could improve the search experience by asking a follow-up question like ‘Did you mean kettle chips or a tea kettle?’ #ux #productDesign

Ever searched for something like ‘kettle’ on an app, only to get swamped with results like kettle-cooked chips instead of the hot water kettle you actually wanted? Taxonomy in search design: A smart UI pattern could present options right up front

Getting into a "flow" state, where you are totally and utterly immersed and involved in what you're doing. This can enhance #productivity, #creativity, and #happiness. You know that feeling when you exist outside of time & space and produce quality without really trying.

From switchgrass to sugarcane scraps, plants are not just food sources but also the building blocks for creating sustainable packaging materials. Unlike traditional plastics derived from fossil fuels, these biopolymers can reduce our carbon footprint significantly #futurism #productDesign #ux

It is technically illegal for any organization to be hiring undocumented persons. We hear a lot about punishing people who are just trying to earn a living, but we never hear talk about bringing those criminals to justice from any political organization.

Typography in web and app design has become…functional, but where’s the playfulness? In the days of print and manual typesetting, typography wasn’t just text; it was part of the art, framing visuals and conveying emotions. #productDesign #visualDesign

Flat design always felt like someone turned in a half-finished project and convinced the world it was a bold new movement. ‘Nah, minimalism!’ Props to them—it worked.
Now, though, we’re seeing a return to tactile visual cues and a pseudo-skeuomorphic vibe

Winning young male voters? Focus on food and shelter. Prices for basic needs are skyrocketing. Take a look at Maslow’s hierarchy—if we’re not addressing the foundation (food, shelter, security), nothing else will resonate.

Today’s stakeholders are more invested in UX than ever, and many feel confident in their ability to critique or shape it. It’s a bit like saying, 'I enjoy eating ice cream, so I must know how to make great ice cream.' While consuming a product gives you perspective, making it work is a bit different

I believe greater personalization is going to be crucial, the
spray and pray" methods of the past aren't going to cut it anymore. We need smaller, more targeted experiences that adapt to each user as a unique individual.
Traditional marketing funnels are dead.
(And that's good news)

Why?

- Customers are smarter
- They do their research
- They don't trust easily
- They have infinite choices

I'm writing a 5-part series on this.

My favorite thing about going to Los Angeles is every new person I meet telling me all the things they hate about living in LA… and then:
Me: “so when are you moving?”
Them: “I would never move, I love LA”
