The right casts “antifa” as a centralized enemy, but it’s a decentralized network that’s exposed pro-Trump extremist groups for years. Tomorrow we speak with To Catch a Fascist author Christopher Mathias. Yesterday, Jay Kuo covered DHS expanding detention and communities fighting back.
This Week In The Big Picture
The right loves to throw around the term “antifa” as though it represents a centralized leftist movement.

In Question Period Pierre Poilievre's CPC gaslight the House and Canadians saying 'consumer bankruptcies are higher today than ever.'
There were 140,457 bankruptcies in 2025.
There were 20,000 more (160,000) in 2009 under Harper and Poilievre and 145,000 bankruptcies in 2010, both more than today.

The U.S. doesn't seem to understand that the things we import from Canada may not equal the dollar value of what they buy from us, but they are things critical to the U.S. economy like: oil, electricity, potash, minerals, car parts, and tourism.

Sure, and Prime Minister Carney is working every day to decrease that dependency while the US gloats about its perceived bargaining chip. My money is on Canada. You should never create a trade war with your most important trading partner. 🤔

This is a flat out lie. Americans need to grow up and get it together because the only allies they’ll have left are the ones making decisions in the furtherance of ending the American experiment.

Yes we have. And it’s not sad for Canada. We have signed 12 new trade agreements in 4 continents in 6 months. And we continue. Our stated goal ( and collective decision is to double non-US trade. We are gone.

Trump has chosen to create an antagonistic relationship with Canada. Canadians have chosen not to be bullied. What has been interesting for me is how easy it has been for us to pivot toward and foster other allies to fill the void Trump’s policies have created and how long lasting that will be.

“Canadians have an antagonistic relationship”? Since when? Oh right - since the US president decided to antagonize Canada with tariffs and threats. Our way smarter PM is building internal trade and making deals with other trading partners thanks to Donald. We buy Canadian - or anything but American!

So an unqualified individual with no legal authority to discuss international cooperation, or business can go to a foreign country, meet high-level dignitaries, and discuss finances, but it’s not OK for the duly elected Prime Minister of this country to do the same?

So Conservatives believe that Canada should not diversity trade and instead bend the knee to the U.S. because they are reliable trade partners. Got it.

This regime bullies, belittles and mocks, treats democracies with disdain; add to that their leader's stunning ignorance of geography and history ... little wonder any nation would tolerate this affront to international relations.
