I used to work 100-hour weeks and couldn't turn my brain off.

Now I work 40 hours tops (mostly) and make better decisions.

Wrote about why I need activities that demand total focus. Ones that won't let me think about work even if I tried.

Finding My OFF Switch – Slow & Steady by Patrik Inzinger
Your brain needs complete breaks, not just different work. I learned this the hard way. Now flying and motorcycles force me to disconnect, and I make better decisions because of it.

We got integration requests from 6(!) different AI phone services in the past 3 weeks. They all are offering the same feature for an outrageous price and „questionable“ security at best.

I‘m willing to bet that at least 5 of them are dead within 12 months. Getting a bit tired of the AI hype, tbh 🫠
It’s my birthday. 🎁

So, I took the day off and grabbed my little family for a day trip. It was also Kobe’s very first flight and he really enjoyed it! 🥰

The Polestar 3 is such a solid upgrade from my Model S - the little design details are just *chef's kiss* 🤌
Also, while I was gone @andreas-lehr.com published our podcast episode. 👏

Big fan of his show and honored to be invited as a guest 🙌

Honestly, we are also still struggling with this from time to time. It takes a lot of discipline (and faith in your _current_ product) to not chase after every good idea.
I totally get it. We were lucky and able to offset the "costs" by working on side projects for years.

Have you tried reaching out to your users? People who like your product might be more inclined to join, and most of your user base should be relatively tech-savvy.
We had the advantage of being a 4-person founding team:
- 1 Product Design / Business Development
- 2 Devs
- 1 Marketing/Sales

So we had that covered with two devs right from the beginning. Still very product-focused, almost 10 years later, so our weak spot remains promoting our product. 😕
Thanks, Borut! 🙌
It’s been a wild ride so far 😅
While market headwinds have many companies restructuring, cutting costs and people, and even closing down, we quietly grew MRR by 49% in the first half of the year.

No new hires.
No extra spend.
Just staying annoyingly focused on the basics.

Rainy Saturday writing session.
The next Slow & Steady issue is going to be a good one, I think.

So… *taps mic*

It's been a while. Life got a bit too hectic for social media. What did I miss?

(btw: Whiskey is doing a bit better, but needs permanent medication. He won't ever be the same, but we are so thankful to have more time with him! ♥️)
Wir managen das alles in Basecamp (so wie die restliche company). Aber wenn du nur explizit das machen willst, bist du wohl bei buffer und co gut aufgehoben. 👍
Whiskey had surgery and is recovering well. We might even be able to bring him home tomorrow. Unfortunately, it looks like one of his kidneys can’t be saved. 😔

We’re waiting on another blood test, which will hopefully show that medication can compensate for the lost kidney function. 🤞
„How To Live“ by Derek Sivers if you’re looking for something short-ish but impactful. 👌

Runner ups: It Doesn’t Have To Be Crazy At Work, The Psychology of Money, Company of One.
Quick update: Whiskey is staying in an intensive care unit at the moment. Looks like his kidneys are failing him.

Trying everything we can to get his body strong enough so he has a chance of surviving surgery.

The past three days have been a rough ride… 😫
I'm similar to you; I couldn't do it without integrating it into some other activity.

Walks with the dog. That's my usual podcast space a few times a week. 🐕 🎧
Wir haben ein geteiltes Konto bei N26 - das funktioniert super. 👍
I asked the same question and got two good recommendations: bsky.app/profile/sais...
And another one gone. 🥺
Trust, but verify.

Remember it when delegating.

Without verification, trust can turn into blind faith, leaving room for misunderstandings, mistakes, or even complacency.

You have to do both.

Trust, _and_ verify.

<3 … we hope so too!
I experimented with that effect as well for our new product, but in the end, I decided to simply go for a non-progressive blur.

It looked like the backdrop was buggy.
