Why are Western politicians and media outlets suddenly speaking about Israel's crimes?

Not to save the Palestinian people from genocide.

It's to protect their own reputations.

Trump doesn't need to censor corporate media. It's enough to threaten their bottom line. There is no better illustration of why we need (and need to support) independent newsrooms. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

Sarah Stillman investigates a widespread crisis of deaths by starvation in America’s county jails. Most of the victims she identified had been arrested in the midst of a mental-health crisis, often on petty charges tied to their psychiatric distress.

In the majority of cases reviewed for this story, federal agents used force against U.S. citizens who were attempting to document raids or intervene by putting their bodies between the agents and their neighbors.

CEO pay is up 1,085% since 1978, while typical worker pay is up just 24%.

Why do we always hear "we can't afford to pay our workers more" but never "we can't afford to pay our CEO more"?

A reminder: FEMA is no longer going door-to-door to assist disaster victims

[From our Climate Desk partner @wired.com]
FEMA will no longer go door-to-door to assist disaster victims
The move, says one agency worker, will “severely hamper our ability to reach vulnerable people.”

I love that former NYT public editor @sulliview.bsky.social is public-editing from the outside.

"With this made-up scandal, combined with the pre-election editorial, the Times looks like it’s on a crusade against Mamdani.

Since 1980, there have been over 400 weather disasters in the US, with total damages over $1 billion.

These disasters have cost $2.9 trillion in total and killed nearly 17,000 people.

Don't tell me we "can't afford" to address the climate crisis.

The truth is we can’t afford not to.

At midnight, Palestine Action will be proscribed under the Terrorism Act.

Their real “crime”? Exposing the UK’s role in arming Israel’s genocide.

This is a dark day for our democracy.

Criminalising non-violent resistance won’t silence the truth.

We are all Palestine Action 🇵🇸

Their crime? Peacefully holding signs opposing genocide.
