Same situation here in Aus for people with communication disabilities like #aphasia. There are critical gaps in disaster mitigation, & emergency preparation & response that people living with aphasia report need to be filled & want to help fill!
People with disabilities are at high risk for harm from extreme weather, but are often left out of disaster planning.

I feel very strongly that Person Centred Emergency Preparedness should be considered for all people with #aphasia & their immediate family. We surveyed folks this year & identified extreme vulnerability & dependence on others during emergencies. Work to do to close this gap.
Good to see Tasmania’s Fire and Emergency Services implementing a Person Centre Emergency Preparedness program (P-CEP). I’m currently completing the P-CEP training cert through University of Sydney www.abc.net.au/news/2024-11...
'It will save lives': Disaster emergency preparedness workshops offered for Tasmanians with disability in pilot project
