Regardless though, food should not hurt!! I hope you can find non-hurty options that are tasty <33333333
Oh no, as in allergy hurt? That SUCKS, I hope there’s some easily identified commonality!
Yum! Delicious, delicious vegetable homework 😍
Oh man, thank you so much for reminding me about that fic, it's been TOO LONG since I reread it!
til that, while I never did read His Dark Materials until college, Phillip Pullman apparently wrote one of my most favorite childhood mystery series and I just never remembered who the author was??? AMAZING WORK HERE MEMORY, I HAVE NO NOTES 😂

JONATHAN IRA LOVETT. SIR. NO. *thwaps him on the nose with a rolled up newspaper and steals his dog*
Right? Like just IMAGINE the compounding interest if they were even able to save like 5% of those funds every year toward their endowment. NO WONDER HARVARD/YALE/ECT HAVE SO MUCH MONEY NOW
I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS ON COMPARISONS TO FUNDING OF PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES AT THIS SAME TIME. Like I knew various DoD projects funded universities at an insane rate during the Cold War, but JFC!! (From The Monsters We Make by Rachel Corbett. It is very good, I'm just reading it very slooooooowly)
*blink* That is QUITE the collection of words to read together in one sentence!!
Is this every graduate program in the US? No, it's not, but culturally it IS the majority of them, and the bigger programs are the worst offenders, so starting with a reduction in the number of students that they can exploit (in whatever way they're currently exploiting) is a necessary start.
but having fewer students will actually free up resources to do that. And most STEM programs have an equally insidious problem of grad students being cheaper, so they keep folks from being able to work on their dissertations intentionally so that they'll have a source of cheap labor for longer.
And until we can get PhD students to start being OPEN to non-tenure track jobs, graduating more PhDs than there will ever be positions for them is what's fueling much exploitation of adjunct positions in non-STEM fields. Yes, we need to educate about what you can do with a PhD in a non-STEM field,
is exploitative, because it's all about the University's bottom line and not about the students' well being. It also leads to a weird arms race in credentials that makes people think that going into debt for a masters program that won't pay for itself in most fields is somehow a good idea.
Why is this an ethical stance? 1st of all, I find it really gross that every school I've ever worked for has called masters programs the "money makers." Call me old fashioned, but I think that admitting every minimally qualified student, even ones we know are probably not able to complete a masters,
Every graduate program in the US that admits more than like 5 or 6 students a year should reduce in size by at LEAST 50%, preferably 75% for most masters programs. (5 or 6 is arbitrary, but it should be single digits for sure.)
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?
Hands of the Emperor and The Goblin Emperor when I'm wanting the fantasy of nimble, effective government that has the capacity for kindness (SOB) and House on the Cerulean Sea and Check Please for found family needs.
Starting episode 4, and while all three of them still look the same to me, I now have one to root for, because I have a crush on his girlfriend 😂😂😂 (A tall pole dancer who loves Halloween? Obviously the man has great taste!)
I refuse to give Netflix more of my money than necessary, so I only just resubscribed to watch new Bake Off. Y’all, there are THREE white guys I can’t tell apart in this bunch, I need at least one of them to go home post haste.
*clanks back, tries not to hit you with a halberd* 😂😂😂
Look, paladins are SO GREAT, I support you in this life choice! (What? Don’t look at all the paladins I have in my character archive, it’s FINE.)
"In this instance in particular, I vote NOT to seduce the druids."

"That's fine, but [character] would support you if you did - he's ace AF, but sex positive!!"

Guys, D&D is the best game.
OMFG WUT. NO, THAT IS SO STUPID I LOVE IT.
Oh man, that might be even better than the scam text I got from a number in the Philippines about not having paid my toll on the Ohio Turnpike. Firstly, I DON'T OWN THE CAR YOU'RE REFERRING TO ANY LONGER. Second I never drove it on the turnpike, you guys are BAD AT SCAMMING.
