Look, we all agree this is amazing. But we used to live comfortable in the understanding that you had to invite Chotiner in, like a vampire.

Now we know that Chotiner might strike at any time, like a velociraptor.
my goodness:

Chotiner: who funds this shit
Ben Smith: How dare you ask such a question. Check your facts!
Chotiner: I have now checked my facts. A thread (1/381)

🎶 this is my Fight Club 🎶
Wow — Senators Van Hollen, Smith, Murphy, Sanders, Warren, Markey, Merkley, Heinrich have created an official internal "Fight Club."

They're challenging Schumer & Gillibrand's leadership, arguing the party is using an old, corporate-friendly playbook insufficient to take on Trump or win elections.

Players are roleplaying in Fortnite to teach each other their rights when encountering ICE officials

“I would slip [the warrant] under the door, but there’s no space under the door,” the agent says.

The civilian pauses. “Well. Sounds like a personal problem.”

The only reason I can live car-free is that I live ONE (1) block from a subway stop in one of the more extensive transit systems IN THE COUNTRY. (And the oldest. And it SHOWS, they’re shutting down a big chunk of the core rail next month for infrastructure upgrades, gonna be a clusterfuck)
All of this thread. I love public transit. I'd use it more, except that there literally is no public transit where I live. I could not go anywhere, never mind do my job, without a car. It's simply not possible.
I am super-pro-public transit, and use it way more than the average American, but I live near a light rail station with very, very stable and predictable scheduling, and even then I would not use it for many things I use a car for because the cost of transit is time.
