Jewish. Father to two children and one dog. Husband to one wife. Attorney maligning officers for sport. Gamer/geek. One time martial artist. Dad jokes. He/him. Magneto made some valid points.
In today's random, perhaps unearned, griping.

A family member wants to set up a family trip to some Caribbean island at the end of the year to celebrate a milestone birthday. On the one hand, it's a kind offer, and theoretically the chance to spend some time with family I haven't seen in a decade

This is a really good thread that mirrors.a lot of my experiences in the martial arts and in the law (except the part where I haven't gotten back into anything yet, but the Boy wants to try HEMA, so I might get there soon...). Worth the read.
Every ICE agent I’ve seen has been a doughy insecure mess who needs to cosplay soldier to feel strong. If that’s what you think is “physically confident” or “masculine,” woo boy do we have some issues.
That actually kind of sounds like your fantasy, Naomi.

@trahan.house.gov -- I'd really like to see your name on this list.
We are now up to fifteen clear calls for impeachment.

World's Slowest DS9 rewatch continued with S.1, E7 "Q-Less." We get the first "mistook a preganglionic fiber for a postganglionic nerve" line, once again reminding me that this show really did an incredible job of setting stuff up/working with established material.

Me: I haven't looked a bluesky most of the week. Wonder what's up there.

Me, a few seconds later: ...the baby beluga guy is calling for regime change.

Okay...the upcoming six weeks are likely to be quite busy for me, between a variety of complex cases and hearings, and general life stuff, so I'm going to take this app off my phone for a bit. Will probably pop in via laptop, but I need to reduce the amount of distraction I've got going on, and

Just woke up even angrier. Impeach, convict, remove. Draft articles now. Either we have a representative government or we don’t. Do not shut up about this until there’s a vote.

You can find your US reps and senators here: reps.fyi

If you call now, you'll get an answering machine and you can leave a message. A great thing to do if you're nervous about talking to someone. Just give your name, your zip code, and demand they impeach Trump for illegally invading Venezuela.

Okay, #lawsky, need a referral for an attorney for a friend. Her father passed away, and apparently family relations are acrimonious so she wants her own lawyer to make sure the estate executor (her brother) is doing things appropriately. She's in Wake County NC. Feel free to comment or PM! Thanks!

I’m not big into New Years stuff, but this seemed fun. Apparently, my year will be dedicated to the gospel as preached by @margaret.bsky.social.

“You can should be able to be happy living anywhere,” is a fucking wild take. I’m visiting family in Texas, and holy shit, I would be miserable if I actually had to live here full time. I know some people love it, and I’m not gonna shit on them, but goddamn. This place ain’t for me.

This answer comes with a story.

When I was twelve, my father, stepmother, and I went on a trip with my uncle and his family, which included my three older cousins. One night, we decided to do a movie night, and for reasons known only to the greatest of scholars, Full Metal Jacket was the movie

So, I haven’t thought deeply about this, but I had a realization the other day that I actually don’t think private schools should exist.

Part of the good of a public education is that it teaches everyone a common framework of understanding, and gets people used to interacting with their community
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.
