Labor Secretary Frances Perkins’ first challenge in office was figuring out what to do with Section 24, a gang of immigration agents who were causing chaos with “highly visible and extreme” raids on immigrant communities.

So she defunded them.

Today’s hearing featuring @raskin.house.gov and Jim Jordan should be well worth watching.

I will testify that rather than ban lawsuits by workers with silicosis, we should ban the product that is causing the disease.

Tune in at 10 AM ET at the link below.
Hundreds of workers who fabricate artificial stone countertops have developed silicosis. Dozens have died. Manufacturers of the product have known for years about the risk but have done nothing.

Tomorrow, I will be testifying against legislation prohibiting lawsuits by workers with silicosis. 1/ 🧵

Trump sent Vance there twice. He threatened to cut off all federal spending to the state. He vowed to back primary challengers of any Republican who voted against him here. He posted their names online, prompting his fans to send them death threats.

But all that failed, so now he wasn't involved.

While I’m on the topic, the problem with both Thomas and Wolff was precisely their *failure* to follow the traditional norms and ethics that apply to reporting.

(You could say, fairly, that they’ve always been unevenly applied — but I think that just goes to my argument.)
As usual, I think AP Style solves more problems than it creates.
