Yeah - definitely at least *one* surprised me (that being Brady, who I at least previously thought was a decent person), but even the ones who didn't, I'm pretty disappointed in.

Ever since Primitive War (which I loved) I've been on a kick of reappreciating Luke Sparke's work. Scurry was *also* great fun. #Horror #HorrorSky

Folks, you can't report the United States to its manager. There's no superhero coming to save us.

We don't need one giant act of heroism. We need millions of small acts of solidarity. Help one person in your community for nothing in return. Then, do it again. And again.

That's the revolution.

Post-Citizens United, that is a distinction without a difference.

This is embarrassing for the author, Mythology isn't sacrosanct, and the most differing aspect between Hades II and classical Greek myth is the lack of rape.

Another hard choice honestly. There is so much great stuff out there. As a fan of the absolutely bonkers Tokyo Shock subgenre.

Helldriver. Look it up. It's wild.

A good day to remember that it is always morally correct to subvert fascist profit structures.

CBS was the home of Walter Cronkite, “the most trusted man in America.”

This week CBS announced it will be the home of new editor-in-chief, Bari Weiss, a right wing firebrand who made her name by getting professors fired for criticizing the Israeli government.

Danger Lurks As CBS Capitulates To Right Wing Extremism
As corporate media and the White House blur into one unholy entity, we must be intellectually armed and ready to fight the increasing disinformation war

After a certain number of times saying "that's a illegal," a person is going to have to accept the fact that rule of law as a concept is not relevant to the conversation, and move onto the steps we take to survive in that situation.

If you are willing to sacrifice a minority group you deem undesirable, you need to stop referring to people on the side of freedom as "we." You are appropriating something you do not believe in.
sapphichazard.bsky.social
We must call the majority what they are.

Innocent people.

People denied due process MUST be assumed to be innocent.

It is morally wrong to want a computer to be sentient. If you owned a sentient thing, you would be a slaver. If you want sentient computers to exist, you just want to create a new kind of slavery. The ethics are as simple as that. Sorry if this offends

I am so in. We need more great spooky animation out there.

Arturo and Roy Ambriz's stop-motion animation film 'I Am Frankelda' – which can count Guillermo del Toro among its supporters – is heading to Mexican cinemas on October 23.

This is stunning. I really hope I get a chance to see it.

It shouldn't escape anybody that people comparing concerns over Generative AI with eugenics have been extremely silent while the US government is engaged in actual eugenics. That's the clue that they're in on the grift, and not just the more innocuous, but still destructive form of AI rube.
slurmsmackenzie.bsky.social
Right. In light of a bunch of annoying turds equating being rude about genAI with bigotry, and insults about code being the same thing as slurs, here's a quick thread on the actual inclusion/marginalisation/discrimination impact of *using* genAI tools.

I've got a cool new work in progress that I wanna use as a base to make some fan-song-art. This WIP is for @jimmysnow.bsky.social! I just need to find some good clips of him and then I can start the tedious manual voice tuning.

I deeply hope that you show this same critical fervor for eugenics when it's actually applied to people.

Which, let's be fully fucking clear, AI isn't, which is why it's not eugenics to want it gone.

There are definitely cool things machine learning can currently do, but none of them are the plagiarism 8-ball qualities that it's marketed for, and primarily getting used for. And destroying lives and economies and ecologies for.
