Lucy is really going to let Charlie Brown kick the football this time. She really means it.
Shaheen: "We've heard from a number of our colleagues on the other side of the aisle that they're willing to come to the table, they're willing to work with us once the govt is open to get this done. We've heard the same thing from the White House. So now we'll see if they're really gonna work w/us"

Trump looks on as a pharma exec collapses during his announcement on weight loss drug prices. Dr. Oz guided the man to the floor. The president also seemed to struggle to stand for a split second.

this is a fantastic and honest piece that lays out a path for Zohran that, hypothetically, avoids the failures of de Blasio
So much has already been said about how a Mayor Zohran should orient himself towards the NYPD and yet here I am in @thedriftmag.com saying more

Trump in Malaysia: "United Nation should be doing this but they don't do it. They turned off my teleprompter when I made a speech. They're good at that. The escalator wasn't working."

*blowing up the statue of liberty to build a highway* erm I thought you libs were supposed to be YIMBYs
I can’t believe there are not one but two articles, in major papers, with this dumb framing. It is not NIMBY to express dismay when a big part of the White House is suddenly rubbled

NIMBY is a term used for more accessible housing and other projects that aim to help people in a community. The ballroom does fuck all in that respect

Lots more detail in here about this outrageous arrest. The guy has been in jail for weeks now for posting a quote by President Trump.
In the wake of Charlie Kirk's death, a TN sheriff had a 61-yr-old man arrested for posting a meme on Facebook, which the sheriff absurdly construed as a threat. It was pretty clearly bullshit but I dug into the case using FB & public records and now it looks even worse. My latest @theintercept.com:
The Absurd Prosecution of a Man Who Posted a Charlie Kirk Meme
Larry Bushart Jr. posted trolling memes on a Facebook thread about a vigil for Kirk. He’s been in a Tennessee jail ever since.

Wow. Sidney Reid, the DC woman just found not guilty of assaulting an FBI agent, issues a withering and gutsy statement on Trump through her attorneys.

"I feel sorry for the prosecutors really, who must be burdened by Trump's irrational and unfounded hatred for his fellow man."

It's a must-read:

Very straightforwardly detained by secret police for speech. I honestly don't know what establishment figures are telling themselves any more to avoid cognitive dissonance over this shit.
ICE arrested comedian Robby Roadsteamer for singing a parody of Rod Stewart’s “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy” in a Jeffrey Epstein the Giraffe costume outside their facility.

He sings “If you hate brown people / and you are a Nazi” and ICE thugs grab him and drag him into detention. No violence—just speech.

Apparently Stephen Miller abruptly stopped talking after uttering "plenary authority" on CNN because of an earpiece malfunction. But he still said it. And it's still wrong.

hi, federal judge expert here! this is not funny. conservative, Reagan-appointed district judges only use epistolary framing devices in their opinions when they are in extreme distress.
the postcard cited in judge young's ruling isn't just at the top, it's a framing device. the whole opinion is a letter to the postcard writer. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
