Hub piece on the printer now.
Slicing preview for the feedpoint/center hub of my cross dipole antenna.

Next antenna project in progress. Cat approved. I think she feels it will be a big plus.

Needs to be finished by Friday for next attempt at receiving the pictures from the ISS.

The tank wasn’t that color until I installed that particular flush handle, which I suspect was supposed to be galvanized or something.

Flush handle snapped off in the first days of Covid. We weren’t getting maintenance so I had to replace it myself. Didn’t look in there again until this problem!

It’s kind of amazing to me how I let a teeny tiny little ball chain spiral into some kind of existential crisis for me. Once I was driven to tears by the whole muddled mess, I was finally able to act… and fixed the thing in about 20 minutes.

The toilet flushes again. 🥳

That was a long N months.

No I will not tell you the approximate value of N.

Yes the management company would have fixed it for free if I had called them. After N months I concluded it was easier to fix it myself than to call them.

Long story. 🫠
Parts to fix the toilet: new toilet tank handle, ball chain with connectors to fix/splice the broken bit of chain that keeps the toilet from flushing properly. Inside of toilet that won’t flush, because the tiny little ball chain that controls the green voodoo in the upper left broke. Green voodoo requires an extra little tug from that chain to reset the safety mechanism that allows the tank to refill without allowing it to overflow. (This was a third party dealie added by the management which is why it’s green voodoo and not some quasi normal tank valve). Also the flush arm is super corroded because I had to replace it on an emergency basis during early Covid and failed to consider the long term metallurgical consequences of the poor quality of the replacement. New plastic flush arm installed. Ball chain spliced. Now flushes like a normal toilet again!

Special guest appearance by book light with clip that fits the side of the tank just perfectly. Aftermath. Pliers for the handle, tweezers for fishing the ball chain out of its little groove. This job required two different strengths of reading glasses! 😆👵

Actual artwork created by actual human!

Ok, more of a sketch.

… ok, ok, I sketched it so I could show ChatGPT my idea. Got 👍 from the bot. I’ll let you know if it REALLY works out or not.

Might take two days to print all the pieces though. Don’t wait up! 😆
It uh, looks like the beginnings of a giant plus sign, sketched in pencil.

Navy brat, same. Duty stations all around the pacific rim, plus watching Sesame Street until I was like 13 years old because that was the first show on tv when AFRTS came on the air in the afternoon.

Chinese phone spam says I need to eat.

Well, it is almost dinner time. 🤷‍♀️

"Sometimes correct" is correct often enough to be useful, but not often enough to leave me in an exhausted and frustrated rage some evenings. 😆

Most of this was 1. brainstorming, 2. setting up for SSTV (success-ish), 3. Python script for decoding radioids (success because I wrote it myself... 😘)
If you can't read the text in the image, I promise, you're really not missing much. Just me arguing with ChatGPT about various ham radio topics.

The problem is roughly the same for engineering fields (which I admit non-engineers might regard as non-creative). I only want ChatGPT to remove the most tedious bits, but it always tries to take away the fun parts. I NEVER LET IT DO THAT! More fun, not less!

Even on technical topics, ChatGPT seems to have no understanding of the fact that *I* want to do the fun and rewarding parts of any task, because those parts are fun and rewarding. Yet it keeps vomiting out code I'm never even going to look at and multi-year plans I don't need. 😡

Oh, and the "here's fifteen steps and 8 hours of work you can do this evening to get started on this project you're only vaguely thinking about" ... 🙄

My colleague
who has committed herself
to not getting sick
has noticed I am rarely ill
and so she asked me
what my secret is,
and as I adjusted my mask
I told her
that I have no secret,
and after staring at me
she narrowed her eyes
and said:
I bet you meditate, is that it?
