Look, LLM use in academia isn't just students. You need to be speaking clearly with your collaborators about your writing standards from the beginning. Make people say out loud that they don't write their own articles anymore.

I wrote for @lpeblog.bsky.social about @alybatt.bsky.social's new book—which, I argue, shows how the critique of political economy can allow us to clearly name the social cause of climate catastrophe: capital. lpeproject.org/blog/when-na...
When Nature is Worthless
Under capitalism, the social domination of nature occurs through and is mediated by the commodity form. Certain portions of non-human nature can be valued, but only when they are transformed into…

anyone have any insight on how NIH study section catchup is unfolding? Don't wanna bother POs since I imagine backlog is bananas, but seeing section rosters posted for mtgs listed as 'did not take place'; curious ab what kinds of timelines we might expect from here (also seems odd to post rosters?)

What is the most recent case of a new publication coming out in economics which seems to disregard the existance of a long literature in a nearby social science?

Over the past months (and at least 11 versions!), I was lucky to work with 11 amazing colleagues on a call to action to reform academic publishing.

Not another declaration, but an appeal to our powerful friends, research funders & institutions, to Stop the Drain of Scientific Publishing. 1/n

Very sorry to hear this. What a loss.
I am gutted to learn of @sfdirewolf.bsky.social (Alice Wong’s) passing. She was always a warm friend, a wonderful spirit, and someone who fostered my own growth. She helped me see that, as a #disabled person with chronic illness, I matter—I am whole. I’ll be posting some of Alice’s work. ❤️ forever

Celebrate the @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social win by giving some money to Eugene V. Debs Foundation, a scrappy little museum in Debs' home in Terre Haute Indiana. They are raising money for an ongoing accessibility-based remodel: donate.debsfoundation.org

i love how every academic knows that phd studentships are absolutely vital for research and teaching and yet increasing the number of such studentships seems to be the one thing that’s absolutely not on the table anywhere

It's that time of the cycle. If you've ever assigned something I've written, please say. Even if you're using it as an example of how not to do philosophy, it can all go in the impact file :)
