The Pittsburgh Penguins used to have a live penguin mascot named Pete, on loan from the Pittsburgh Zoo.
He was fitted with tiny custom skates. When he died, he was stuffed and displayed in the team trophy case. He was replaced with another penguin, named Re-Pete.
