Boy, Chris Fowler is having a really tough game on the play by play. 😬

All the assumptions that McDaniel was safe felt pretty baseless to me, w/ many too easily ignoring the fact that Miami is in a hiring phase for a GM. It was always possible/probable that GM interviews & cascading moves around the league led them to make this move, which was right for the franchise.

McDaniel finishes with a 35-35 record in four seasons, including two playoff losses.

State holds off BC, winning by 8 on the road. Williams scored 22 and Copeland dished out 10 assists, but Arceneaux was the X factor and the Pack has to hope his wrist injury is minor. The Wolfpack moves to 11-5 overall and 2-1 in the league with a trip to Tallahassee on deck.

Big triple from Williams puts the Pack up 11 at the under-4. He's got 19. Interesting that Wade has not gone to Breed at PG with Copeland sidelined. Able and McNeil have looked shaky handling the ball against pressure.
January 7, 2026 at 3:51 AM
BC trims it to eight with a free throw coming -- after Copeland picked up his fourth foul -- with 5:10 remaining. NC State still turning easy shots into hard shots too often on the offensive end. Big stretch looming.
January 7, 2026 at 3:45 AM
A couple of really strong defensive possessions allows State to stretch the lead back to 9 at the under-8. As predicted, Arceneaux has benefited from entering the rotation after Holloman's injury, and he's given the Pack a dozen points and two steals tonight on just five shot attempts.
January 7, 2026 at 3:39 AM
Copeland is really, really struggling in the second half as the Pack has become overly reliant on Williams. McNeil has missed 8 of 9 shots and Lubin is not getting nearly enough touches. State simply cannot afford to give this game away.
January 7, 2026 at 3:30 AM
If McNeil ever learns to be aggressive at the right times and to stop falling down on every shot, he's going to be a handful for opponents. NC State's sloppy play has allowed BC to cut it to 4 at the under-12 timeout. Hard team to figure.

Another classic Random Guy With Awful Shooting Numbers Has Career Game™️ scenario vs. the Wolfpack. State up just six at the under-16 as a result.
January 7, 2026 at 3:16 AM
Quiet first half for Allyn Breed, but he's part of the reason State has a single turnover in the first half against eight assists. Ball movement waned in the closing moments, but the Pack can pull away if it continues distributing and getting out in transition in the final 20 minutes.
January 7, 2026 at 3:06 AM
The Wolfpack by 8 at the half after a characteristically unfocused finish to the first 20 minutes.
January 7, 2026 at 2:53 AM
For some reason, BC getting away with peak-Duke-level hand-checking. Roger Ayers is involved. State by 9 closing in on halftime.

Roger Ayers with a phantom technical on Wade just to make sure you remember he’s the most inept ref in the land.

I like the idea.

I think all hell is generally in the process of breaking loose.

If I'm the Dolphins, I'm trying to lure Mike McDaniel into the Goodfellas warehouse by saying it's full of designer hoodies, then going after Harbaugh.
Think the Ravens are going after Stefanski?

So Jaccarius Peak entering the portal is a bit of a gut punch for the Pack. State has been good at finding/developing skill players in recent years, so the RB/WR transfers felt manageable. But losing a standout left tackle with 30+ starts under his belt is a gonna be a tough replacement effort.

I would have handed it to Henry instead of kneeling on it. But here we go.

So the microdose has kicked in for this game. My word.

It would be difficult for Lamar Jackson to look less interested in this game.

What if I told you that it’s ok to admit that a high-stakes game between two intensely mediocre teams who know each other’s tendencies inside out is actually just a really shitty game?

We are one play into essentially the first playoff game of the postseason and already have our first absolutely batshit penalty call.

Not sure who they have mic’d up on the field in this SF-Sea game, but there’s some Carlin-level cursing being captured. 🤬

Orlovsky might physically confront the lead official during the TV timeout.
