I understand, but he’s 36 and did not play professionally last year (at least not at a level that appears on the register, so not even the Atlantic League or Taiwan or thereabouts).

Knew about Pratto blowing up in '21 and his subsequent MLB struggles, but I assumed he was a pretty good AAA hitter. He's not. A lot of miss (that's nothing new) but also poor exits.

Sssssure, why not. Hasn't been viable in the bigs for a good while, but he's depth, will give a quality 5 in Round Rock until he opts out. Finished 2025 there after being dropped by Atlanta.

Noticed Evan Carter fell 2 days short of 2 years service time, meaning no FA until after 2030 (but also 4 arb years). But Texas didn't rig anything. He was a mess & absolutely had to be optioned in '24, actually recalled sooner than I preferred, but Taveras DFA & Pillar injury basically forced it.

Rangers badly needed another mid-rotation arm but aren’t spending but did have some quality prospects despite a relatively weaker system, so: voila! Young and team are shooting their shot.

DeGrom Eo Gore Leiter… … Latz or Rocker, as it stands. Still light on depth, and if one of top four gets hurt in March, uh oh. Corniell and Santos close but can’t count on them yet. Would really be great if they could luck into the 2026 version of Patrick Corbin.
