Might as well make the first post more than hello. Jack Leiter has been reinstated from the development list and will make his first start since July 7 for AA Frisco. 1pm CDT.

Texas’s high-A team had a doozy in 2011 (pre-bonus runner). Myrtle Beach struck out 32 Kinston batters and lost. Wouldn’t happen again even under old rules. Managers would start using position players on mound by the 13th or so.

Hope you took that picture from the safety of a phone booth.

I think a decent number of pitchers would've done what he did. And a true throw to first was hardly a gimme by that point.

Sorry, Kerkering. Anyway, his throw home was 49 MPH. I *think* a rocket throw would have beat the runner, but Kerkering was throwing flat-footed in haste, probably a sharp limit to how much velo he could muster. Also, Realmuto is never expecting a throw, wasn't in front of plate with glove forward.

Kekering has the ball in hand just off the ground at this point.

Beat me to it. Am going to be putting out something similar soon. By my own calculations, the offense was almost exactly league average in runs scored.

Some baseball clubs swap between experience and youth when making a managerial change. Some swap between calm and fiery. The Rangers swap between bald and (relatively) hirsute.

First instance of “speaking of Menard” on Bluesky, best as I can tell. 😁

Saw him a few times in Austin and finally the DFW show at the Starplex with BB King in June 1990. Got a terrible sunburn. Great show, though.

Wild that "strengthen[ing] the pillars holding up Western Civilization" required signing a deal with Twitter basically as an elaborate form of shitposting, waiving the due diligence, trying to weasel out, and finally giving up.

Earlier this year when they announced it, people were losing their minds, all happy about it, as I secured a new credit card to supplant the Southwest card I'd been using for nearly everything the past 20 years.

Garcia did not hit 50 homers. 6 fewer than last year’s 25, in fact, and an OPS decline of 20 points. Defense was much improved so he had some value. But he’s not a shortstop, and there’s a point at which, if you’re managing, you just can’t write that name anymore.

Adolis Garcia said his goal is to hit 50 homers this season. He shared that his knees feel healthy and strong and that he’s worked on improving his bat speed.

2023 avg bat speed: 73.5 mph
2024 avg bat speed: 72.0 mph

Rangers 8, Guardians 9 (10). The Rangers finish the season 81-81. So... yeah.

Rangers 2, Guardians 3. The Rangers are 81-80.

Highlight to a frustrating season is Jacob Latz grabbing a rotation spot. Struck out the side after an out-or-bust dive by inexperienced LF Cody Freeman.

Rangers 7, Guardians 3. The Rangers are 81-79 and have guaranteed a non-losing season (and inadvertently assisted the Astros, but oh well).
