Just recent learned of Gustave Gilbert's notion of "stupidity" as a void of empathy, not intelligence, born of his Nuremberg experience. I'm using that one from now on.

I am actually a little surprised at Dems generally tucking tail and hanging back during this escalation. it’s not that I don’t find that consistent with their decades of inaction, I just thought maybe this situation was so bad it would change some of them & inspire them to act

nope

When I look at fascism throughout history I regularly think "this happened bc the population protested and resisted the secret police too much. I wish they had chilled out, demonstrated proper civility so as not to earn the already occurring oppression, and let the fascist lose the next election

“What appears to be a newly created account appeared to invest $30,000 Friday in Maduro's exit. After Maduro went into custody Saturday morning, that same investor netted $436,759.61.”
Someone made $400K by predicting Maduro's capture. Here's what happened
The winnings come as the rules governing prediction markets are still evolving.

in 1993, I went to Denver for World Youth Day, a biannual Catholic youth event. Signed up for a summer camp-ish trip with the Legionaries of Christ (yeah...), stayed in Breckenridge for 2 wks before to do fun outdoors stuff and "spiritually prepare." Ended with a giant Mass with Pope JP2 in Aurora
I would like to hear about a time someone, a stranger even, was very kind to you without any prompting, ulterior motive, or strings attached.

one semester away from a masters. Checked my transcript and my grades are... not great, but I'm still in the game and it's still getting done. I'm doing the best i can with the time, energy, and talent that I've got, and I'm satisfied with that.
