Won’t anybody think of the second home owners?

On the bright side, sales of tiny, tiny violins are soaring.

It's such a bizarre framing. Labour MPs think taking 450k kids out of poverty is putting the country first! That's why they wanted it to happen! It's not because they personally benefit.
Headline on The World at One just now:

"Sir Keir Starmer has denied putting the Labour Party before the country by ending the two-child benefit cap".

Can we please go back to reporting the actual news, not someone's partisan take on it?

You can tell this is a lockdown-ish special. The distance between Sonali and the couple is ludicrously wide. #EscapeToTheCountry.

“The NHS recommends pregnant women stay fit and active to help them adapt to their changing shape and to cope with labour.” Not sure doing it up a mountain is quite what they had in mind, though…

I see all the headlines today refer to ‘Benefit Street’

What they don’t tell you is 60% of those on benefits are in work.

No outcry on those employers not paying enough or concocting hours to enable people to claim UC.

First it was immigrants. Now it’s those on benefits.

Radio 4 papers review is horrible. No surprise there.

Listening to a BBC World Service programme on tips. Shocking to hear that particularly in the US people really rely on them - some say they make up 2/3 of their wages.

Plus sides to today: Two-child benefit scrapped. Largely progressive tax implications. Good market reaction. No big spending cuts. Nightmare prospect of cutting funding to net zero etc avoided. It's a left-wing budget. Those who say there's no difference between Labour and Tories are bananas.

Big news in the new town I grew up in is that a scumbag couple nicked a pub Christmas tree, actually ripping the lights out of the wall!

Then they drove off with it in the back of their car.

I mean I've been very critical of the government and of Starmer and Reeves but I am actually a Labour member for a reason and this *is* a Labour budget with Labour values, and yeah I'll take that for today thank you very much.

Ask yourself, how long would Keir Starmers premiership, or political career last, if this was "his" history?
Then ask why the media still use every opportunity to promote this vile human Farage, as our next PM...

I haven't seen any yet but you could probably find a few contemporaries who didn't personally witness Farage being Farage at school. But there doesn't seem to be a single former pupil or teacher who find the descriptions of racism, anti-semitism & cruelty unfeasible. Shocked, I tell you...
