Noo. I’d definitely find that more than mildly annoying, but I’m weird about such things.

I think it’s about time I gave that a rewatch too! 🙌
scoutharris75.bsky.social
Got it, thanks. Have added it back onto the watch list. 👍
scoutharris75.bsky.social
Oh. Haha. Maybe I won’t put it at the top of my to be watched list then. 😆

It was great. The two women professors were particularly good (one used to be an Oxford don, so I’m not surprised she exuded intelligence!).
I think they recorded it, so I might go back to it in future if I need studying inspiration. 🤓

I’ve just finished watching a uni debate about history and how/if the past determines the future, from the perspective of various disciplines, and it was so good I now feel like my brain is firing on all cylinders! 🧠 🔥
Think I’m going to get on with some studying whilst I’m feeling all enthusiastic

It feels like an insult to the notion of objective reality to invoke “experts” to weigh in on a numerical fact you can verify with a pocket calculator

Ooh what did you think of We Solve Murders? I quite enjoy the Thursday Murder Club books but I’ve not read that one.
I’ve just finished reading Jane Eyre for the first time (for uni) and I loved it. Currently reading Can We Skip To The Good Part by Melissa Brayden.

To ‘ultra-crepidate’ (19th century) is to lecture others on subjects you know very little about.

Had a pleasant walk home from the shops listening to the end of Jane Eyre (excellently narrated by Thandiwe Newton) and absolutely cackled at this line: “As she grew up, a sound English education corrected in a great measure her French defects”! 😆
The nice sunset I enjoyed on my walk home.

My step-Dad would not allow music in the car. He made us listen to Radio 4.

I’ve just finished reading Incendiant by Virginia Black, which I really liked (I’m currently listening to Virginia Black talk about it!).

Of ALL the times that Oxford chooses not to be fuddy-duddy about something, and it's this dumb.

Really pleased to hear about the cat. ☺️
Less pleased about the book. 😆
I love that book, but I’m guessing it’s more gentle with lower stakes than your usual fare (😉), and no book is for everyone. There’s one scene in particular that I still snort-laugh about when I think of it.

Is it a free event that anyone can join? I was just taking a look and can’t see any restrictions / cost… 👀
