I know some of you must have a sci-fi fan in your life, but you know fuck all about sci-fi so never know what books to buy them for Christmas…
I considered doing a little crowd funder but I don't really feel comfortable doing that, as there are so many people crowd funding for basic necessities and essentials. And this is not that! But if I can sell 15 copies of the book in question, that would cover it. And seems an appropriate method

This whole thread is really interesting, but this in particular blows my mind: I can’t quite get my head around a desire to write – a desire so concrete, students are spending huge sums of money to study the craft as undergraduates – without a desire to read?
I've never encountered more students who say they hate reading. Students who want to be teachers, writers, or both. I wonder if "hate" means "I have trouble reading," but I also talk with so many students who write in a genre but refuse to read in it. They can't see themselves in relation to others.

I saw a TikTok that said: “it really bums me out when I see someone walking their dog with headphones in. That’s the highlight of your dog’s day and you’re not even fully present 😔”
My dog, when she’s locked in and fully present, doesn’t have a clue what’s going on. She’s just happy to be involved.
