Oh my god!!! Deceased, delighted: I am wheezing and puffing like an extremely undignified Ivor the Engine

Tempting since my last attempt at one was a catastrophe that resulted in rice everywhere. Might be nice to redeem myself this time. Although I suspect a repeat disaster would be the more likely outcome…

I’m equally cursed and blessed in the quality of the ones round me. Have to try to keep my Wombling to a manageable minimum and as you can see, I am not very good at it!

Contents are as perfectly delightful as you’d imagine. Jill McDonald somehow managing to bring a colourful quality even to her monochromatic illustrations.
Very, very tempted to get a tattoo of that spectacularly sublime sickly cat
Page from a 1970s puffin post magazine, gorgeous cartoon pictures in black and white illustrate short texts about how to make a puppet theatre from a matchbox and instructions on creating a snake shaped draught excluder with a sickly looking cross eyed cat with a speech bubble reading yurck in capital letters, illustrating a short item on creating a recipe for deliberately disgusting food. The style of the illustration is a joyful junior psychedelia

I live and love to delight you dreamboat!
Truly, everything about Earl E. Mayan is an unsealed tomb of treasures and terrors in the best possible way

Divine! I can practically smell leaf mould and damp tree house from them, feel the heat from a three bar fire & the thrill of studying every foxed page in front of it, sitting on a carpet patterned like the vortex from The Adventure game with a vast cast of faces & stories swirling in the wallpaper

Instagram constantly disappointing me with perfect outfits that either transpire to be for children or for adults but only available in size six & at a cost of five hundred quid

I’m so glad! It’s fortunate that my daily mental health walk passes about six charity shops! And it gives me great pleasure to share the finds here

Wonderful wintry Jill McDonald Puffin Post cover, delightful bit of cartoon colour for a gloomy grey day
Cover of a 1970s puffin post magazine with a colourful cartoon illustration of puffins wearing cosy winter woolens, hats & scarves& jumpers, doing winter activities all over a giant snow puffin with a pipe in their beak, some puffins mountaineering over its head, others having a snowball fight on its belly and in the foreground some ice skating while another warms its wings over a brazier.
In the background, snow blizzards through a silvery grey sky and the title Puffin Post appears in the top right corner, hand lettered inside white puffs of cloud

Too true, the soul’s own sweet tooth for an impossible confection: something delicious & discontinued, a craving, roving restlessness of the spirit that nothing can ever quite settle

Oh her work is so extraordinarily beautiful! So tender and precise.
And I agree, most of my acquisitions cost about the same as a pint and they never cause a hangover
