Thinking I might suggest ‘Husbands of River Song’ as a back catalogue Christmas Who for family viewing this year… I know they’ve been enjoying watching Alex Kingston on Strictly plus I think Greg Davies role hits differently post Taskmaster…

Listening to Storefront Church’s (fabulous) Ink & Oil on vinyl. The strings are so psychedelically woozy I genuinely had to check a streaming copy against it as I had started to worry my copy was pressed off centre…

So disrespectful that people read the leaked budget. The effects shots weren't even done yet, and no music. So unfair to the creatives who put it together.

Spouse and I went to see a play in Edinburgh and were bemused that the story seemed to have nothing whatsoever to do with the title. The usher had let us in to sit in the right seats, but for the wrong play at the wrong theatre.

on the other hand this is great news for people who are recording some topical comedy about the budget at half past one

Just booked to see Operation Mincemeat. Which is… November *2026*

Thus triggering flashbacks to that One Foot in the Grave episode where they turn up to see a show having got the year wrong

The majority of books published lose money and the majority of authors do not earn out their advances if they were lucky enough to get one. If you do the math on an hourly wage, writing is frankly bonkers as any kind of career.

Related: I feel like a lot of the piracy vs buying discourse (🤢 that this is even a thing) gets framed as stealing money from individual authors vs. stealing from faceless corporate publishers when for most authors it’s about whether or not they’ll get to publish another book.
