He/him. Pretty queer. Writer when I can actually focus, drone pilot, media enthusiast. Doctor Who stuff happens against my better judgement.
😮 Audrey hates gay men

I've not seen Heated Rivalry yet, how bad an idea would it be to watch it on a crowded plane?

Largely agree with this but not huge on throwing IQ into the conversation, even just rhetorically - it's also a pretty spotty measure of stuff.

The massive expensive collector sets are something that has skyrocketed in the past few years and was very much not always the case

Ngl she gives me big Eleanor Shellstrop energy love that she's a huge dirtbag.

Generative AI is bad but also the people trying to accuse anyone who uses an em dash of secretly using generative AI are really fucking annoying and not helping.

I think massive collector sets for affluent adults is a troubling business model. Hell, like you said - this could have been for individual Pokémon. This could have been three sets. But Lego are increasingly making massive fuck off expensive collector pieces.

Nah for me the problem is the business model of creating massively expensive collectors pieces in the first place. The ratio is fine, but I don't especially care about that.

Fascism as imagined by a bunch of twerps who think “punch the psychologist and steal both marshmallows” is the optimal solution to the marshmallow test.
Fascism is supposed to feel frictionless and inevitable.

It's supposed to be this gradual boiling and instead they're all gleefully thinking they're gonna flash fry the frog

The $600+ licensed collector sets are a relatively new phenomenon

Hi 😂
January 13, 2026 at 6:50 PM
As I've stated plenty of times in the replies here, I'm very aware of that!
January 13, 2026 at 6:48 PM
Lego is my hobby
January 13, 2026 at 6:47 PM
Yeah I get that part, but don't like the business model of prioritizing inaccessibly expensive collector items for an affluent niche.
January 13, 2026 at 6:03 AM
I have! They're slowly making their way in
January 13, 2026 at 5:10 AM
I'm not disagreeing with that, but I am disagreeing with the increasing focus on a niche collectors market for affluent adults.
January 13, 2026 at 5:10 AM
It's pretty big
January 13, 2026 at 4:03 AM
Thank you for your wisdom, I could have never thought of this solution.
January 13, 2026 at 4:00 AM
I really don't 😂
January 13, 2026 at 12:40 AM
Oh yeah it's very absurd
January 13, 2026 at 12:40 AM
Huh??? I was literally the OP criticizing this, and this is such an extreme reaction, what 😭
January 13, 2026 at 12:39 AM
I'm very familiar, but it's concerning that this has become the predominant business model.
January 13, 2026 at 12:38 AM
The ratio isn't an issue to me but making sets at this obscene collector tier is
January 12, 2026 at 11:48 PM
Very that

Another consequence of rising inequality:

Nearly every adult-adjacent hobby that’s even minimally collectible has pivoted to catering to “whales” as their core business model — people who chuck huge piles of money into Acquiring Stuff — rather than making things for the average hobbyist.
I get that Lego is for adult collectors at this point but Jesus Christ
