Thank you for reminding me that I owe Anil a response on this topic and I need to stop being guiltscared away from that by how long it's taken me 😅

Awesome to see this! 👏 I can put it all in one spot but it's people raising the issue that will help change things.

That's 100% why I created leavesubstack.com -- got tired of re-hashing the points; wanted to make a simple 1-pager.

I don't like the stakes being this high on the "malice vs incompetence" game.

Admission to a capricious abuse of power based on petty grievance—a power usurped from Congress.
Trump: "So I put on a 30% tariff, which is very low. I got an emergency call from I believe the prime minister of Switzerland. She was very aggressive ... I didn't really like the way she talked to us, so instead of giving her a reduction, I raised it to 39%."

You're failing us, and your inability to meet the moment is doing untold harm to some of the most vulnerable. STEP UP and rid us of this madness. We're begging you.

May their words haunt every single one of us that hasn't figured out how to end this madness yet.
1/ ProPublica collected handwritten letters in mid-January from children held at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center, the same facility where 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos was taken.

Hundreds of kids are still detained.

We’ll let the children’s words speak for themselves. 🧵

ICE needs a military-sized budget because it is at war with the United States.
ICE’s pending $30 billion budget exceeds the military spending of nearly every country, including Canada, Brazil, Mexico, and Iran.

ICE + CBP funding for 2026 would total $66 billion, higher than all but 7 militaries worldwide.
After a string of ICE murders, Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries proposed reforms — and $11 billion more for ICE.

Including reconciliation bill funding, the Schumer-Jeffries plan would give ICE a $30 billion budget, higher than all but 15 militaries worldwide:

Weak man's idea of a strong man
The president is now attacking a US Olympian as a “Loser” and misrepresenting his words for his mild unspecified criticisms about things going on in the US right now.

This year I'm again donating $10 per point of the winning team to an organization in the losing team's city.

I'd love for you to join me with any amount. Who's in? Post below and we'll post receipts after.

The Superbowl Tradition Continues! I hope you'll join me.

A reminder that domestic abuse often increases after big games like the #SuperBowl.

A few years back I joined a tradition of donating to an organization dedicated to protecting partners from abuse in the losing city.

Oh yeah, totally 👍 I added it from the sense that having data breaches is another data point on deciding whether to leave a place

Sure. It's just a question of whether the convenience trumps these considerations. A question of personal ethical lines, I believe. For me it doesn't.

(Not to be dismissive/judgmental! I use an LLM in my work these days and grapple with my own lines daily.)

I use a feed reading program for my RSS feeds. Many newsletter platforms have an RSS, but my feed reader also allows me to generate an email to sign up to newsletters. I'd prefer RSS, but it works fine for me.
