Break Out Year by KD Casey (libby ebook)

A really enjoyable read, even though the burn was a bit too slow. Less about baseball than one might expect. I was a bit confused by the process behind Eitan accidentally (?) coming out and then realizing he was gay. The last third of the book was strong.

TIL the original lyrics to Deck the Halls are awesome and “don we now our gay apparel” is temperance movement bullshit

Do you ever remember that Slack was merely a tool created for internal dev of the brilliant and abandoned game Glitch and grown unaccountably sad?

The Last Graduate - Naomi Novik (libby ebook)

After tearing through the first in the series I needed quite a few false starts (and corresponding waits in the libby app) to get going with this, but in the end I enjoyed it just as much. The plot resolved in an unexpected but enjoyable direction.

Persuasion - Jane Austen (libby audiobook)

I've been on a bit of an Austen kick after rewatching Pride and Prejudice on vacation. I liked the broad humor here and found Anne more flawed and human than some other Austen heroines. The whole Elliot family were a delight.

Love for Love's Sake - (iqiyi)

Charming and heartfelt bl kdrama that is a bit more high concept then it needs to me. Really well acted and well made. All the characters are endearing but the main couple are especially adorable.

Beautiful series of images by Eduard Pechuël-Loesche from an 1888 book on the strange skies produced the world-over after the 1883 eruption of Krakatoa.⠀⠀

Kabe-Koji-Nekoyashiki-kun Desires to be Recognized (viki)

While similar in plot to the above this was 1000% more charming. Genuinely delightful characters that were quirky and yet real! Charming design! Kinky doujinshi as a major plotpoint! A genuinely affecting story about identity and love!!

A Gentleman's Gentleman by TJ Alexander (libby ebook, but a staff recommend at a charming bookshop in Richmond, VA)

Fun and engaging. The right mix of drama and silliness with a twist I didn't see coming. I felt the romance was a bit prefunctory but still a good read.

Copper Script - KJ Charles (libby audiobook)

KJ Charles is always charming. This was a vacation audiobook so I wasn't the most focused but it was fun.

just in: Philadelphia DA Larry Krasner is on track to win easily.

With roughly a quarter of the vote reporting, he leads Pat Dugan 81% to 19%.

Krasner already beat Dugan in the Dem primary... and Dugan kept running as the GOP nominee. (My write-up: boltsmag.org/2025-prosecu...)

The Apology by Han Jimin (hardcover)

A Murakami-esque exploration of the lasting danger of lies. Half ghost story, half love story this book is a call to be forgiving to oneself and others, and willing to admit mistakes. A gift from @phoebeacheson.bsky.social

Red White & Royal Blue (libby audiobook)

Sweet and endearing romance probably everyone has read. The political elements seem naive at best in 2025. Good plane book.
