Poet. WE CAN’T PROGRAM THE SUN (2025, Bottlecap Press): https://bottlecap.press/products/programthesun

Words in JMWW, Eunoia Review, Creative Colloquy, Coalition Works, and more. Lots on faith, film, and community. NUFC/O’s supporter. Opinions are my own.

This administration seems intent on censoring art that disagrees with its particular sense of entitlement. So, if you’re looking to support work that is directly opposed to that, my debut poetry collection is now available.

Keep writing.

While I still have yet to see it, I couldn’t pass up on getting one of my most anticipated films while out shopping earlier today.

“You look at a back sometimes and know it’s talking.”

From William Bronk’s poem “The Body.”

Really hoping that between last week and this week, Gordon’s season is now on the up and up. There is a balance coming to his game lately, and I hope he continues to play with grit. #nufc

Drafted a new poem, the first in about two months. It’s definitely a draft, stands at nearly two pages, and has the momentum to keep on going. Time will tell.

Keep writing.

Giving a Peace Prize to someone who loathes and degrades women, condones murder, sends US military after its own citizens, hates the poor, creates unregulated militia to rip families apart, and uses Jesus (the prince of peace!) as a mascot is quite the way to go, FIFA.

For someone who appears to understand talent, Tarantino’s remarks about Paul Dano are severely off the mark. THERE WILL BE BLOOD wouldn’t have worked without him, even with DDL’s terrific performance. But, as Tarantino should know - change Dano, and DDL doesn’t give the same performance.
'The Batman 2' co-writer Mattson Tomlin is 'pleased' to see so many people cheer for Paul Dano after Quentin Tarantino said his acting in 'There Will Be Blood' is 'weak sauce'

"Not only is he a terrific actor, but he's an astonishing director who exudes control and tremendous empathy"

Might need to see when Tampa comes to Seattle next year so I can see Ceddy in person once again. Forever an Oriole. #Birdland

Hardly a surprise, but it makes me happy nonetheless.

Picturesque game of late, aye? If we could stop goals (imagine!) and defend after we’ve scored, no telling where we’d be in the table! But here we are. Lucky to get away with a point, even if the +9 seemed excessive. #nufc

What a beauty from Gordon! Hopefully we can point to this moment as the goal that turned his season around. #nufc

O Captain! My Captain! What a goal from Bruno. Seeing him hug the kid on the sidelines brought tears to my eyes. What a moment! #nufc

I hate this so much. We look around and wonder why communities aren’t growing or why we feel so isolated sometimes, and a lot of that can be traced back to being trained into an “immediate” life. We want things and we want them NOW. No thanks.

It’s rather easy selecting Paul Giamatti. Doesn’t matter if it’s a lead role, supporting, or cameo - Giamatti doesn’t miss.

30 Rock! Planet of the Apes! Black Mirror! Sideways! John Adams! Private Life/Parts! Man on the Moon! My Best Friend’s Wedding! Star Trek! Cinderella Man! So many more.

Figured the 3 month bundle deal with SlingTV was better than heading to the pub for every single Newcastle game. It’s certainly more convenient. However, these tv streamers are insanely priced, especially if you only want sports (MLB/NBA/NUFC) and movies. Le sigh. Howay and all that. #nufc

Rewatched THE MATRIX ($2 blu-ray at HPB, btw!) over the weekend and everything about this film still holds up so nicely. Movies today are too glossy, too neat, and too uniform for the most part, which is honestly why we need more physical media purchases ASAP.

“WE CAN’T PROGRAM THE SUN takes us through the philosophical and intimate settings of what life has been and what it could become if we continue down certain paths.”

This review thrills me. Ethan Hawke has been steadily ascending toward the top echelon of generational talents. He never phones in a performance, and he is so deeply invested in the art of creating, not consuming. Oh, and he’s not even 60 years old! Miles and mile of performances to go.
BLUE MOON is written as a play- a single night in the life of a talented, sad, tortured writer who doesn't know he is going from celebrated talent to footnote in history. It is some of Ethan's best work EVER, and Rick Linklater's best movie in years (and I *LOVE* all his recent work.) F'N BRILLIANT.

I am sure I’m not the only poet/writer who navigates the world of sharing work without instagram, but I’d love to hear from others how they do so. Too many platforms are pushing AI scraping/tools, and I am so opposed to being on anything that does so.

Officially Meta-less as of today. Got rid of FB in 2020, and I pulled the plug on IG today. While I used to love its design to share and connect, I cannot, especially as a writer/creative, in good conscience support the platform, its man-child of an owner, and their AI push.

PSA for any and all, especially for those having a hard time this holiday season. It’s America’s Thanksgiving today, and while that typically means folks are surrounded by friends/family, it doesn’t mean it’s always ideal.

It’s OK to not be OK. Reach out. Check in. Speak up. You are so loved.
14 years on, Gary Speed’s loss reminds us how vital it is to speak up, check in, and look after our mental health #nufc

The BEFORE trilogy. I discovered these films during a pivotal period in my life, and they’ve taught me so much about love, grace, beauty, life, and the human condition. They’re never far from my thoughts, and continue to serve as an inspiration in many ways.
What movie are you most thankful for? (not necessarily your favorite!)
