The Labour Party seem to have put up Hugo off of The Vicar of Dibley to defend the government on Newsnight.

A bold strategy.

"Removing an elite environment - because it’s easier than fixing the problems that surround it - gets framed as bold decision-making, when really it’s an admission that nobody knows how to make the existing system work".

Welsh Rugby: Where nobody contemplates resignation except the fans
There is a straight line you can draw through Wales Rugby over the last decade, and it leads to a system where individual failure is absorbed, explained away, and ultimately rewarded. There is no p…

Almost the funniest 6 Nations try since since LRZ somehow dropped it backwards onto his own leg.

This could get Wales 2025 levels of ugly for Ireland.

I'll never get tired of the FFR's shithousery on their opponents' anthems.

Too, slow or too quick. Pitched too low or too high. Starting with the chorus rather than a verse or tacking on an unexpected additional chorus.

Magnifique!

How is it possible that somebody so relentlessly hapless as McSweeney is still in his job?
Exclusive: Morgan McSweeney sought official advice about whether Mandelson could be the UK's ambassador to the US on a part-time basis

Officials “had to explain that being His Majesty’s Ambassador in Washington was a full time job… in Washington"

This is a magnificent must-read by GwladRugby's Dan.

"But today, looking at the wreckage of Welsh rugby, I find myself asking a question again and again: Is this still my game?"

The Vandalism of Our Heritage: A Fifty-Year Lament for Welsh Rugby
For fifty years, much of my life has been measured in eighty-minute increments. My heart has quickened in the mud of Dave Parade; the biting cold west wind at Stradey, and the deafening, soul-stirr…

"There is nothing in the WRU’s conduct in recent months to suggest that its senior figures are, in the words of Logan Roy, serious people".

Are these serious people?
This morning’s GwladRugby article called for those who reject the WRU’s proposals for the professional game – which increasingly looks like the end for the Ospreys – to focus on bringing forward al…

"Criticising the Union is the easy bit. Finding an alternative way forward is the difficult bit.

And that’s where energies need to be focused if the Union is to be made to change its mind". gwladrugby.wordpress.com/2026/02/02/i...
If not this, then what?
First of all, a confession. I support the Scarlets. I am also from Swansea, and my initial first-class (as we then called it, back in the 14th century) rugby watching was pretty much exclusively at…

This comment betrays the complete incoherence at the top of Welsh rugby.

The 'optimal solution' talked about cohesion, about having access to players. RCK recently talked about the difficulty Tandy had in arranging a get-together with players.

Yet, simultaneously, they're better off in Gloucester.

"It is alleged that some senior figures among Welsh rugby’s so-called “big three” have not attended a single URC match involving a Welsh region this season. As Dylan Thomas might put it, doing absolutely LLAREGGUB".

Do Not Go Gently, Ospreys.
There is something almost poetic about the Ospreys’ current predicament. Not poetic in the soaring, triumphant sense—more in the Dylan Thomas, rage against the dying of the light sense. Except, in …

Lovely touch by Carwyn Leggatt-Jones to put Page in.

Can't help feeling that the Scarlets have missed a trick here.

A lighter shade of grey on this change strip and they'd be unstoppable/invisible.

A CLEAR BREAKDOWN PENALTY PROBABLY BUT WHO KNOWS REALLY?

Proper challenge for the Italian TV production team here.

I reckon the decision to just go with whichever camera is closest to the action - even if all you see is a collection of arses at a breakdown - is probably the right one.

God is clearly a supporter of good rugby and doesn't want us to have to watch any more of this.

Ask the Ref:

The ref calls "tackle, release", the defending player releases, the attacking player gets off his knees and makes another few metres, and his team scores a try a phase later.

What do you do?

Oh, I forgot to mention the ref is Andrew Brace.

*Now* what do you do?

Temu Hitler on the left, ironically.

Spode off Wish on the far right.
