In '24, NYC's greenhouse emissions dropped to levels not seen since '20, during the COVID pandemic. The declines were due to higher energy efficiency, including in cars; phase-out of fuel oil in buildings; and EV growth. Buildings' emissions have fallen 27% since '05.

The Administration announced the Dakota Access pipeline will continue operating on 12/19. The pipeline carries oil from ND to IL. But, Dakota Access must establish other water sources for nearby communities, install better leak-detection systems and check water 2x yearly.
