1/2 Usually the sentiment behind #plantsgiving is to try to incorporate as much plant taxonomic diversity into your meal in one night. I did NOT make this a goal. Just cooking simple good food for me and ten others AND YET I am impressed by the diversity we served up!

Spent the week at @hhmi.bsky.social Headquarters strategizing with ROOT & SHOOT. What resources can we share across plant bio societies? How do we ensure the sustainability of recently implemented changes? How do we safely collect data on our memberships so we can identify community needs?

Intro! I'm Román. Postdoctoral researcher studying the evolutionary origins of the auxin response pathway. I think evolution can teach us about how molecular pathways evolve, facilitating the engineering of proteins to understand functions, create synbio tools, and modify development.

Wading into bluesky to celebrate #LisH domains! Did you know they do more than dimerize? They are also potent repressors of transcription. Román Ramos Báez @sensitiveroots.bsky.social, Jennifer Nemhauser and I explored this in our last paper.
