There are so many things in The Mountain Goats discography that I would never have thought was references to greek mythology that are references to greek mythology but the one line I was sure was a reference to Greek mythology is a reference to the action-RPG Odin Sphere.

To be clear: the main romance in this story is sapphic, and it's the slowest burn I've ever written.
I've also been writing backstories which include 2 more sapphic romances, this one would be #3, and that's not counting the 2 sapphic romances in the mythology.

I'm tempted to add another POV to the fantasy trilogy only to have an excuse to write another sapphic romance subplot, involving a character I have a very soft spot for.
I won't do it, but I might write a short story or something.

This episode epitomizes our approach to discussing films. We're not about nitpicking what a movie gets "right" from source material, but rather we unpack how such differences reflect our current culture & selves. Thanks @hypatiaheuresis.bsky.social for the talk and @realgdt.bsky.social for the film!
We talk the horrors of science, the sins of the father(s) and the benefits of a classical education for developing Creatures, along with all the changes, big and small, between del Toro's adaptation and Mary Shelley's 1818 novel. Listen now at movieswedig.com or wherever you like to listen!
