• Standing tall at over 5 feet, Bear 856 is a beast, grizzled fur and a signature lip-lick when he's on a mission.

• Once the top bear at Brooks River, Bear 856 ruled with force, but now he's a bit more strategic in his approach.

• As he ages, 856 is learning to pick his battles, taking a more patient approach to maintain his dominance without exhausting himself.

• Even though the younger bears are getting bigger, 856's intelligence and adaptability keep him in the game.

Fat Bear Week 2025

• A large boar with narrowly-set eyes, dark brown fur, and a scar across his muzzle.

• After a battle left him with a broken jaw, Chunk's had to get creative. He's still a dominant bear, even with a permanent injury.

• He's adapted learning how to fish without using his jaw fully, relying on his sheer size and experience to still dominate.

• A true survivor, Chunk shows that it's not just about brute strength; it's about being adaptable and staying tough.
