Yep! Bits and pieces of Nag Hammadi/ PGM-adjacent stuff are very fun to spot in the NT; that’s like half the “Easter eggs” in there afaik, that and like Paul’s influences from like Merkabah Chariot mysticism.

“I’m worried about my community… I’m out here in a frog costume to show how ridiculous the notion that we’re violent terrorists is, and showcase how that narrative is wrong…”

Serious Q: is it too late to give this dude the Nobel Peace Prize? 🐸 🏆

The campaign against “antifa” is about establishing a beachhead for further attacks on speech and assembly rights. We see that today in the effort to preemptively label No Kings protesters as “terrorists.”

Trees, autumn edition here 🌳🧡💚😊

Have a good time everybody 🦋💫💙✨
A group of trees, green to the right. In the middle also with orange leaves and lit by the sun behind. A pale blue sky above and green meadow below.

Sorry for my clumsy words. I admit my limited knowledge being a dilettante, and quite happy to shed any twisted notions i might unconsciously hold from my bogus Christian indoctrination.
sesheta.bsky.social
Oh for sure, I agree that not all cases monotheism are Abrahamic monotheism.

And yeah shit like Hellenization was def colonialism too
sesheta.bsky.social
Yeah, didn’t he try to move the capital, too?

But yeah most Egyptian religion centers major astronomical bodies in a very fun way. Local variants of creation myths are cool, and we only scarcely know about a few of them.

Lots of heterodoxy all up until the Christian polemics mad about the variety.
sesheta.bsky.social
Yeah from what little I know of how regional religion was in Egypt, it probably was just an unpopular fork which faded immediately after he passed.

There is no evidence I am aware of that Akhenaten imported the monotheistic notions of “violent jealousy” or brutally coercing anyone to convert.
sesheta.bsky.social
IDK if anyone really *preferred* Akhenaten’s ideas. After all, the monotheist notion largely died with him.

But yeah there is evidence the two traded and very probably had some cultural crossover. Iirc Egyptian languages share a fair bit with Semitic and Berber, but again no expert here.

Thanks. I don’t think this image is giving the AI tells i know of (fucked fingers, eyes, demonic background faces, weird background objects, inconsistent perspective), but I like learning what cues others are noticing in slop.

What made you think this was AI generated?

I am *definitely* no expert, your stance sounds more plausible because like, the folks were making rounds of edits to make things single-diety.

Despite my flimsy, half-educated opinions; I am grateful we have these mysterious little esoteric bits that survived many editor tweaks over the centuries.

At an academic conference and the most common conversations I've had is stuff like, "How many faculty is your school trying to fire? Do you still have professional development funds? Do you still have an English department?" Fun times!

They have to have a backup plan to the "dangerous immigrants" narrative. They have one. They've literally created a "terrorist group" out of thin air. I mean, you can't be having free and fair elections with "enemies from within," like the "Antifa Terrorist" group running around. It's a pretext.

It is a fascinating thing that the Philistines refer to God in the plural, in 1 Samuel 4:8 – Philistines use plural agreements for God. In other passages they use the singular, but not there!

One might posit that this is an older poetic fragment that preserves Israelite polytheism.

OT is full of these little nuggets of deeper, nuanced history. My opinion (no degree, just curious about history of religion) is that monotheism was a specific thing that emerged after Sea Peoples settled the region and shuffled up/expanded Caanan culture [Phoenicians have entered the chat]
