Time to start the final season of Mad Men.

Colton Gentry's Third Act by Jeff Zentner. I would have liked it better if it were queer characters. It had a strong start but delved into a Hallmarkesque heterosexual romance (not my thing). Country singer is cancelled after saying F*** guns at a concert and returns to his KY hometown to begin anew

Etapa 6 on the Ruta de la Lana

Ruta de la Lana Etapa 6Caudete-Almansa26,13 kmCasa Almantica (33€)lunes, 6 de octubre de 2025 (en español más abajo) It's always sad to finish a Camino, and it's always anticlimactic, even when I end in Santiago. This year I did not. I awoke early again, and the nearby Casa Chata only had packaged ensaimadas to eat, so I stopped at the gas station to get one of the prepackaged donuts for a snack.

First red wing black bird of the year!

It was determined not to be photographed though.

Everybody’s scared of being OBSERVED, yet we all want to be SEEN.

That’s autism in one sentence.

We crave connection - yet we fear scrutiny.

So we perform safety.

And then wonder why no one knows us.

If we don’t untangle this dynamic, burnout is inevitable.

Archer S2 seems to be ramping up. I have no idea how I never heard of it until like 2018...(and it took me 8 years to finally get to watch it...)

Ok, fine, we’ll come back for the bird count weekend but you’re not getting us in any sort of row. We’re not geese!

Drop an album that was important to you when you were 19

(I didn’t turn 20 until December)

So we did a late Friday the 13th viewing of Videodrome (1983) in my quest to get through Cronenberg's oeuvre. Definitely one that left me thinking about a lot (despite lead actor vomit). Still relevant today (less you know the better, like most Cronenberg.) Also--Debbie I mean Deborah Harrie!)

I think I liked The Roses (2025) better than most, mainly for the cast. Allison Janey's brief appearance was the icing on this casting cake. I just saw War of the Roses for the first time in December, and they're completely different. I think the original slightly edges this one out.

Stars At Noon is a weird movie (but I liked it) starring Margaret Qualley as an American reporter/prostitute trapped in Nicaragua during the Civil War/Covid (it's somehow 1984 and 2021 at the same time) who latches onto a shady English bloke to find her way out.

So yesterday a sparrow tapped on the window to the patio door to inform me that it wanted fresh seeds (they should know I only refill at weekends because they have plenty to last the week).

Five minutes after refilling this morning seven sparrows are flicking the seeds.

To deflect from his having forgotten the maple syrup back in Moose Jaw once again, Pierre announces the cover of a 1990’s alt rock album 30 years too late.

The woodpeckers were out yesterday at Meadowbrook, but this red bellied woodpecker was the only one who would let me get a good picture #Birds

Ok, we're six episodes into Archer, and it's a lot of fun--the sort of escape from the darkness of real world stuff right now that I needed. Jessica Water, Judy Greer, Aisha Tyler...animated show about some incompetent spies.

Like any short days, I tried to sleep in some, but as always, I awoke long before the alarm went off. I spent a while trying to find a place open for breakfast at 8 and eventually found one opening that had tostada.

Doing a poll on Mastodon.

Good idea or bad idea to plan my Camino to be in Spain on US Election Day?

(I live in a state where early voting is a thing so I can vote before the elections.)

Doomers shall be blocked.
