Duane's Depressed by Larry McMurtry is a step up from the mid Texasville, not quite as good as The Last Picture Show. There's some racial slurs that shouldn't be in a book from 1999 *sigh* Otherwise I would recommend this continuation, even if my fave characters spoiler redacted #BookSky

Doing a quick rewatch of The Real O'Neals because I saw it's leaving Hulu (supposedly). It's somehow better than I remember.

It's the sitcom journey (no laugh track, take that Mid Century Modern) of a gay teen in a Catholic family with Martha Plimpton as the mom.

As a Xillennial, how did I never hear this song until the 2010s?

We have finally begun The Diplomat.

And for some reason, so tired I fell asleep and now am completely lost. I think I like it, but the vibe feels more a serious Veep than anything remotely close to The Americans so far.

Just watched Twinless (2025), one of the best movies of the year. Less said going into it the better. Just amazing.

I think I’m just going to watch the rest of Ursula’s episodes and move on from the Mad About You rewatch as S3 has been pretty meh.

Standing in the Rainbow by Fannie Flagg felt like it was two books and ended up being very messy. One was small town USA throughout the 20th century; the other was a switched-at-birth (plot never truly explored) woman ends up governor of Missouri. If it had been 100% her story, great. Alas...

Nothing worse than getting in a hold from the library and seeing that one of the StoryGraph triggers is animal death.

Won’t read that.

Started a rewatch of the film Happy Endings (2005)...Lisa Kudrow is fantastic. I had completely forgotten it, but I got the DVD because I loved it back then. About 20 minutes left but am falling asleep per usual. (Don Roos should make more movies...)

This week it’s time a twentieth anniversary rewatch of Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous.

I think I’m weird cause I sorta like this one even more than the original? (Dolly Parton cameo c’mon!)

Heather Burns should have had a bigger career than April 25 light sweater.

I miss Sandra Bullock.

Rewatched Austenland tonight, which I didn't remember much of. I think it can be viewed as Nadezhda's learning how to go undercover before becoming Elizabeth Jennings. Jennifer Coolidge made the movie, as she tends to do.

My iPod decided that I needed to party like it’s 1997 this morning with “Where Have All the Cowboys Gone” and “Your Woman” back to back. “Firestarter” and “When You Believe” joined for more 1990’s goodness.
