Playing Resident Evil 6 for the first time (I gave up after two hours back when it first released) and... *woof*.

As an artefact from the 360 generation, it's a fascinating mess of conflicting ideas.

As a game to play today, though? Absolutely rank. A miserable slog.

The game you are about to play is a product of its time. It may depict the PS3, which was commonplace in society. These depictions were wrong then and are wrong today.

Gotcha—let’s dig into that step by step.

1. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗻𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵, because I turned you into an amorphous lump of flesh. You’re not just immobile—you’re immortal, and you feel only anguish.

2. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺. That makes total sense—it’s a natural human impulse, and you’ve been through a lot.

Dug out the old Quest 2 to play some VR yesterday. I've been poking around Into the Radius VR, a super tactile solo extraction shooter based heavily on STALKER.

Really good stuff!

A heap of great recommendations to check out this year! Both this episode and the preceding indie trends of 2025 are required holiday void listening.

What a year. At the time it was a toss up between Left 4 Dead and MGS4 (I know, I know).

Now, it's probably Mirror's Edge or Dead Space. Two bold swings, the likes of which feel so rare these days.
Quote this with your favourite game NOW that was released in 2008, and what your favourite was THEN (if you had one)

@backpagepod.bsky.social I wish this was an intentional thing I actively try and do every Christmas, but it's genuinely not.

I found another one. Potentially the last one? It was in a train station. My wife sighed loudly when I asked her to take the photo.

Have a good one, boys.

As always, super proud of our GOTY episode.

We played so much this year, and I think that's reflected in our picks. 12 absolute bangers that range from enormous critical darlings to incredible curios that slipped under the radar!
