Rue Valley is great when it's leaning into being a time-looping adventure game rather than an RPG, and there's some real golden snooping to be had here while it lasts.
Rue Valley is a time looping RPG that's best off leaning away from Disco Elysium comparisons, and getting Monkey Island with it instead

Like it or not, Fairgames is one of the most important upcoming games for PS5 - big success or otherwise, it feels pivotal. Luke puts it well here!
You'd be forgiven for having forgotten about - or even being completely unaware of - Fairgames. But it will, I argue, be a deciding factor in the future of Sony's live service strategy. www.gamesradar.com/games/action...
After Payday 3's fumbles, Fairgames just might turn out to be the heist game that I crave
Opinion | Done right, stealing digital dollars will bring in plenty of real ones

Reviewed this way back and it might be basic (XCOM style game aimed at kids), but it's pretty good fun. Always sad to see this stuff end up delisted.

Finally slapped a score on my Black Ops 7 review and got it all tidied up (thanks @mroscartk.bsky.social!) and the campaign is uhhh… certainly something.

www.gamesradar.com/games/call-o...
I respect the attempt to make the weirdest Call of Duty possible with Black Ops 7, but it results in a campaign misfire and multiplayer that's hardly revolutionary
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is a highly ambitious FPS that delivers on its promise to be the biggest Black Ops ever, wearing its psy-op weirdness proudly, but is an uneven package overall.

Kirby Air Riders is perhaps an ideal video game in that it's easy to overlook its flaws because it's fun enough to play over and over again. Taken on their own, each section of the game largely leaves me cold or indifferent, but the entire package together is solid.

My review:
Kirby Air Riders review: "This racer is also equal parts fighting game, minigame collection, and roguelike – and I'm shocked at how well that works"

To commemorate the PS5’s 5th anniversary week, I look ahead to Intergalactic, which might finally bring Naughty Dog kicking and screaming into this generation with a new IP that will hopefully remind us why it’s the top dog in AAA cinematic blockbusters www.gamesradar.com/games/action...
I don't care if Intergalactic blasts past 2026, a new Naughty Dog cinematic action-adventure is reason enough to be excited
Opinion | Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet could be a post-The Last of Us Naughty Dog's return to its brighter blockbuster era

The Golden Joystick Awards are better than The Game Awards for one simple reason: They have to put up with my bullshit because I'm on the judging panel.

"Dispatch doesn't have a secret identity – this is an episodic adventure that knows exactly what it wants to be." My review!
Critical Role fans rejoice – episodic gaming has been superheroically saved by Dispatch's incredibly charming band of misfits
Dispatch might be the best superhero TV show of the year, even though it's a game.

Refusing to let go of annualisation, filling gaps with AI assets... It can't be sustainable, and it shows in the final product. Developers need time and space to make things worth engaging with.
Once annualized royalty, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 makes it clear CoD campaigns can't keep up with the pace – like Modern Warfare 3, this feels like another 'point five' release
Opinion | Call of Duty Black Ops 7's campaign continues a trend of half-step releases in all but name

Reckoning with a console generation that feels like it's only getting started five years in.
Five years later, PS5 is in the best place it's ever been, but after 8 years covering PlayStation, I've never seen a console generation like it
Opinion | PlayStation's strong points have never been better across a lineup of thrilling adventures, all while it struggles to shift gears – but does the publisher really need to?

No better way to kick off our article series looking at the PS5 anniversary than with Luke talking about superheroes. He ain't done yet!
I felt that there weren't enough words on the internet, so I threw some more onto the pile (and I'm far from done). Many thanks to @mroscartk.bsky.social for allowing me to put down what happened when I revisited Spider-Man 2 for the first time since launch. www.gamesradar.com/games/spider...

Played through this after loving the demo, and Act One is a really great start. Impeccable vibes and style, and getting into the rhythm of spraying and grappling through the space colony is great. More than a couple of really impactful vistas I'll avoid spoiling for now as well.
