La verdad es que no conocía la canción y ahora que escuché la original me suena más al estilo de El General (Panameño pero con flow medio jamaiquino porque cantaba reggae en español de los 90). Te suena?

Here is your Saturday Spider. It's a twig spider (maybe Ariamnes sp.?) in Madagascar, at night in the forest; it has captured another spider, which is the soccer-ball thing near its fangs. About 1 inch long. (I've shared this elsewhere before, but I think not here. Sorry, if so.) #Arachtober 🐙🌿
A photo of a spider called a twig spider, standing atop a straight, thin, dry twig, parallel to it, stretching in a level line left to right. The background is pure black. The spider has very long legs and an extremely elongated, twig-like abdomen. It has captured a smaller spider and has it wrapped up in a silk ball; two straight strands of silk are visible, one starting at the spinnerets and anchored to the twig, the other attached to the prey and leading left, out of frame.

#Arachtober is here

Consider the Sapphic Orb Weaver (Acacesia hamata), a perfect sexy lump 🤎
Smooth brown orb weaver with a suggestive vulva-like pattern on her abdomen, few neatly folded top a perfect point in front and behind her as she rests on a leaf

I hope I didn't come off as seeing ADHD in a negative light. I am pretty neutral about it (although annoyed by my own challenges). I mostly get frustrated at other people who don't take those challenges seriously and brush them off as "quirks"

Tomorrow marks the start of #ADHDAwarenessMonth, so here are some phrases about ADHD that make me cringe (in no particular order):

- "It's a superpower!"
- "neurospicy"
- "it's not a disability, it's a different ability"
- "everyone is a little ADHD"
- "just [insert useless advice]"

Okay, I warned you yesterday but SPIDER POST SPIDER POST SPIDER POST. Look. Spiders are great! They're our friends. They do good work out there and in our houses. I love spiders and how can you not love THIS spider, who is both a work of art *and* wildly successful at this game of hide-and-seek?
I DON'T SEE ANY SPIDER HERE DO YOU SEE A SPIDER HERE GOSH I SURE HOPE THAT ANYBUGGY WHO WANTS TO COME VISIT THIS FLOWER DOESN'T SEE A SPIDER HERE okay fine there's a spider here. This landscape-oriented photo is a black-eyed susan except tucked against the middle of the flower is a perfectly blended-in crab spider. A white-banded crab spider, maybe? Even though there's no white band -- this spider is yellow as the flower's pedals, with reddish Rorshach test ink blots on its plump crabby body that also blends into the center of the flower. It's really something else. You can barely see it. Spiders are so cool. They're great. I am admittedly glad they're not human-sized, though, though I guess that's true of all bugs, even the cute ones. Photo by me, Chuck Wendig

In a new publication, we focused on the little-known African spider Megaraneus gabonensis, in which females are 4x larger than males.

We provide an overdue taxonomic description, phylogenetic placement, and reconstruct the evolution of sexual size dimorphism.

Taxonomy, phylogeny, and size evolution in Megaraneus
Many spider species show large differences in size between males and females, but biologists still do not fully understand how or why this evolves. In this study we focused on the systematics and evol...

Howdy from Austin, Texas!

It's home to the largest urban bat colony in the world, with an estimated 1.5 million bats🦇

If you are ever in Austin, it's a must see! It was spectacular!

Earlier this week a paper dramatically reduced the realistic potential for forest carbon storage. Now another downgrades the capacity of geological storage. Emissions reductions are the only effective climate action.
kevinjkircher.com
New paper in Nature finds that global geologic CO2 storage potential is ~90% lower than previously believed. Many candidate sites could leak CO2 back into the air or into groundwater, undermining climate mitigation efficacy or putting nearby human health at risk.

A prudent planetary limit for geologic carbon storage - Nature
A risk-based, spatially explicit analysis of carbon storage in sedimentary basins establishes a prudent planetary limit of around 1,460 Gt of geological carbon storage, which requires making explicit ...
