@propublica.org @weareoversight.bsky.social Who is investigating why DOJ paused enforcement of the Foreign Agents Registration Act and the impact it has had? Who previously registered and what are they doing now vis a vis the federal government? Who would have had to register but hasn’t?

Having been involved as an expert witness in three documentary proof of citizenship cases I expect DHS will find there are 1,000s of naturalized citizens who haven't updated their drivers' license citizenship status but they'll claim they are noncitizens
Scoop from @abbyvesoulis.bsky.social & me: new docs obtained by @weareoversight.bsky.social show DHS trying to obtain drivers license data from all 50 states to weaponize Trump’s false claims of voter fraud & possibly remove voters from rolls before midterms www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

When DOJ wanted to dismiss the Mayor Adams case, Federal Judge Dale Ho appointed a lawyer to represent the interests that the DOJ abandoned. How about something like this in all of these attempts to hand out tax dollars couched as settlements to everyone and their mother.
NEW: DOJ has been in settlement talks with Michael Flynn -- Trump's first national security adviser seeking $50M for his prosecution by ex-special counsel Robert Mueller -- and Stefan Passantino, a Trump I White House lawyer who accused the House Jan. 6 committee of privacy violations

I would really appreciate it if Congress didn't provide for tax dollars to be used for handouts couched as settlements. We need some oversight, sunshine, and accounting. In the local government context, the city council approves settlements and the agreements are FOIAable.
The settlement talks between the Trump administration and Michael Flynn and Stefan Passantino marked a change in position by DOJ, which previously had successfully argued in court to have both of their lawsuits tossed out

You know what is a huge waste of tax dollars? Paying these folks to run around in circles trying to protect and please the king all day long rather than do any useful government function.
My god (sorry I’m late on a bunch of this stuff. But wow!)

According to this NYT report, the head of the FBI and the Attorney General are holding meetings *in the Situation Room* with GOP lawmakers they are trying to pressure to rescind their votes to release the Epstein info. This is madness.

Dear Detroit media,

Here's an idea. How about asking Winfrey why turnout in municipal elections has been down ever since she took office?
Thank you @freep.com for analyzing Detroit turnout as a percentage of those who are eligible to vote (citizens over 18 years old). The 2nd chart highlights that turnout in municipal elections has been depressed since 2005. That was Winfrey's first election.

Detroit's Nov. 4 election boasts highest voter turnout since 2013
Around 22% of Detroit's registered voters cast ballots in this year's municipal election.

Gov't treating people differently based on their views, which it admits it is doing, is what the legal-jargon "content-based restriction" means. The US gov't is violently assaulting people who are peacefully expressing their views, just as John Lewis did 50 years ago.
Judge Ellis finds that the Trump administration has placed "content-based restrictions" on protesters.

"Tellingly, she says, "defendants do not deny that they would treat pro-ICE demonstrators more favorably."

Easily several hundred people have packed into this plaza in Chicago's North Center tonight in response to ICE abducting a daycare worker early this morning.

This is a neighborhood that has largely been spared until now from the "Midway Blitz" terror campaign. But everyone knows someone affected.

Chester county, PA is where I grew up and many family members live. I’d like to see it do better.
Unaffiliated voters in Chester County may have to cast a provisional ballot through the early hours of Election Day.

Poll books delivered to Chester County’s precincts did not include the names of independent and third party voters.
