Our mailman today: “Can I ask you something?”
Me: “yea?”
Him: “you’re a doctor, right?”

-it’s days like these I’m reminded that I live in a small town. He’d talked to a Polish friend who’d mentioned me.

I love this idea. My dad died when I was three and I had to figure out simple things like how to tie a tie and even shave on my own. Please retweet this because I know there are a lot of kids out there who could use some help with day to day life.

I caved. I’m now the owner of an antique vulcanite locket with photos of people I don’t know. I hope it comes with a ghost or two.

It’s also interesting in that I never knew they made vulcanite jewelry. My limited exposure to vulcanite-anything have been bottle stoppers
I mean, I kinda want to give them a home.

Seems I always get stuck on something odd when I make it past midnight. I hadn’t heard of perfume nips before but now I want some.

#SookieTheFarmCat has once again been busted licking a book.

Absolute chaos starting a new job but still liking it. I get tomorrow off before I go back to the acute psych unit for 08:00-21:30 shifts both Saturday and Sunday. I’m anticipating being less than functioning come Monday.

My friend Nancy recused an awesome stray cat, but it needed some significant vet care and the bills are piling up. If you could throw even a little cash Nancy's way, you'd be helping both her and the kitty a lot. Please repost this. Thanks.

JFC. Don’t do this to authors, people.
I did a thread a few weeks ago of "authors link your stuff" & one of my author friends who is one emergency away from being homeless had a massive spike in downloads on Anna's Archive from people *who follow me* complaining about how they are poor & should be allowed to steal from other poor people

Rickert is fantastic & this is one of my favorite stories

#booksky
We're revisiting our back catalogue and the ONLY original novel we've published—M. Rickert's "The Shipbuilder of Bellfairie." This exquisite mystery is an amalgam of Frankenstein, and A Confederacy of Dunces. We want you to read it. The eBook is on sale for just $2.

Effectively ‘testimonies’ from people who’ve supposedly experienced hauntings in some famous (and not-so-famous) spots in Norway. No dramatics, just ‘person x experienced the following *insert place*’

Never Have I Ever by Isabel Yap.
-1st book out of my Filipino-TBR & a great one at that. I’m still trying to shake the unease and heartbreak a few of these stories left me with.

8th read of 25:
Galgedans (‘Gallow’s Dance) by T.H. Håvardsen.
6th Norwegian read of the year. Although there’s parts of this I enjoyed, it is a fairly simplistic slasher that leans a bit too heavily on gore and looses a lot of the tension in the process for me.

Mom’s enjoying the latest Robert McCammon so much and said “I’ve done nothing today; just napped, read, napped, read…”

-sounds like a sweet day to me

Was racking my brain trying to come up with a present for mom. Then I remembered: @blacktopkid.bsky.social’s latest book. Definitely that. I suspect I won’t hear from her until she’s read the entire thing 😂

The 1,5 y.o is really loving Mog the Forgetful Cat. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve read it to him this week alone.
