A woman with a family connection to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has been arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Revere, Massachusetts.
The woman, Bruna Ferreira, has an 11-year-old son with Michael Leavitt, Karoline Leavitt's brother.
Ferreira migrated with her family to the United States from Brazil as a child and is currently in custody at an ICE facility in southern Louisiana.

This was always going to be the direction the majority of law enforcement would sway left on their own. The "militarization" of American law enforcement (where civilians are the only likely targets) has been a generational effort waiting for moments like these.

My job is police oversight. I've represented District 14 in Dallas on our city's police oversight board for more than four years. I can't say this emphatically enough: City leaders, this is not business as usual. Law enforcement is for protecting RESIDENTS, not fascist federal agents.

Going to lose my mind if I see another local police department who thinks it's their job to "maintain peace" by protecting DHS goons from residents. If you want peace and safety in your city, have law enforcement block off streets and prevent DHS from causing and accelerating chaos.
